Is it time to extend the quiet period to 8 am?

I like a good sleep but it would appear many of my fellow campers like to be out of their caravan or motorhome doors bang on 7 am usually with a loud clatter of the door as well.

Pulling and tugging and cursing at awnings as they decamp, finally to retreat back into their vans for a couple of hours before departure.

Would it be too much to ask for the quiet period to extend on site to 8am,.

Iā€™m going with the flow. So if you are in Brighton tomorrow morning, the tunes are going on from 7am and I will be singing along.

Happy holidays

A rather puzzling reply, who has said anything about putting on tunes and singing, unless you wish to emulate a monastic way of life that hasn't been done for hundreds of years and/or cause the very same behaviour you disagree with? If it's something you are complaining about about why join in?

Why not just go with the rules as posted?

PS where did you get this idea about quiet time being till 7am?

There was a leaflet issued last year, by the camc advising  of several aspects that affect members, including the site quiet period overnight

jK will be able to expand. on its content

TG  mentioned

no water hog or waste master to empty, just the toilet but most carry them not drag them around

.When I read that I realised I haven't seen either pieces of "essential " kit so often mentioned in the context of noise ever  apart from on club sites .

Hi, Come to this late however it seems to me that, as I believe has been mentioned, it is all about consideration for others.

I don't think that anyone who is likely to cause a noise nuisance to their fellow campers will take any notice of the "rules". They either know they are there, and just ignore them, or are not even aware they exist.

A few years ago on a CMC rally we were awoken at 4am by, what turned out to be, three vehicles with their engines running as their owners, a family group, hitched up trailers and vans and yet, other occasions have woken to find neighbours departed with, so far as we knew, not a peep.

There are 1,000s of other noises that will be heard early morning when at a caravan site. Taking down an awning or doors closing are probably the least of them. Many sites are near fairly busy roads so traffic will be heard from very early hours as folk go off to work. Some sites are near railway lines, many CLs are on farms with their attendant early morning noise be it cattle calling or tractors moving about. Not least of all is bird song which starts as soon as it becomes light. So no, it isn't possible or desirable to try to stop noise before 8.00am. My suggestion is get some ear plugs.

I agree with this 100%.

One thing to add though: some have referred to other noises, natural or man made, over which we have no control such as trains at Berwick, planes at Edinburgh, road noise, bird song, farmyard noise etc. They seem to want to make the case that these noises somehow trump the need for campers to show consideration in the noise they make. If planes are possibly going to wake people up, this gives them the right to make as much noise as they like. I disagree.

These are unavoidable noises and, as I once posted elsewhere, I find I am immune to them, whilst, as I have no shame or compunction in freely admitting, I am easily enraged by very-late-night al fresco or in-awning gatherings or early departures who fail to depart with reasonable quiet and consideration for others or those who play music or their TV very loudly. I sometimes leave sites, far from home, as early as 6am and I would resist any rule (or much worse locked gates) that prevented it, but my routine to achieve this with almost zero noise is well established and well regimented so that, I very much hope and believe, I would be among those that allanandjean would be surprised to see gone on rising. I would be content for someone to put me to the test if they find this hard to believe.
