Is it time to extend the quiet period to 8 am?

I like a good sleep but it would appear many of my fellow campers like to be out of their caravan or motorhome doors bang on 7 am usually with a loud clatter of the door as well.

Pulling and tugging and cursing at awnings as they decamp, finally to retreat back into their vans for a couple of hours before departure.

Would it be too much to ask for the quiet period to extend on site to 8am,.

Surely you don't go to club sites to sit round "all day"! Going on holiday is about seeing what's in the area, you can sit at home all day and listen to your neighbours mowing their lawns. If in fact you do go out from the site how do you know that those dreaded mowers are "racing" round "all day"?

If the Tredegar site is anywhere as bad for noise as the Durham site is it is definitely one that we shall avoid.

Methinks he’s winding us up, Nellie. There’s quite a history of it πŸ˜„

I think some folks do sit on Club Sites all day though Nellie, puzzling though it is to us. That’s why we get all the drivel about early arrivals, vehicles racing around, dogs crying, children barking etc… It’s not something we notice much, as we are out most of day, every day if on a Club Site.

You've heard how bad I am at sleeping Nellie. Well I can honestly say that I slept wonderfully well at Tredegar House when we stayed there. This amazed Mrs.WN so much that she had me looking at houses on dual carriageways when we returned home!laughing

I can't explain it. A dog barking 2 miles away can wake me up yet I can sleep through a thunderstorm if it comes along early enough into my sleep yet I slept well at Tredegar and even once slept surprisingly well on a motorway services in Kent.

I've often found that the quietest time on a club site is round about 3-4 pm. Sometimes it's bliss.

People visit sites for any number of reasons and for some spending some or even all thier time around site may be what they get out of the visit.  Should they be tormented  by lawn mowering because it's not a problem to those who only use sites as dormitories?

Not much to choose between them for road noise.

Our plan for our next trip is to "sit around and do nothing" sometimes if you're very busy at home or at work this is the aim of a holiday..not always but it can be a possibility. We won't be on a club site and there won't be any mowers (hopefully! smile)

A good point, but is silent grass cutting a possibility, or should the grass just be left to grow?

Just shows how different we all are😁 We have used Durham a few times, always pitch up at the bottom of the Site, and don’t find it noisy at all, although, as I say, we are out in daytime. Tredegar, we liked the Site, but you could hear the really loud road noise all the time.
