We are pleased to provide an update on European travel in line with guidance from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), UK Government and European Governments.
The FCDO no longer advising against travel to any of our European destinations, although some countries only allow entry for tourists if they are fully vaccinated.
Most countries require some form of Covid-19 travel documentation such as proof of vaccination status, health forms or negative test results before entry is allowed. Please pay particular attention to age bracket restrictions in each country, the testing and vaccination requirements for children varies by age between countries. Also, please check the definition of 'fully vaccinated' as this can vary between countries, many countries have set a validity limit of 270 days after the last dose but others are set at 180 days.
The NHS testing service should not be used for travel abroad.
There are many private companies that provide Covid-19 tests for entry to your destination. Some can also provide a test for your return to the UK, where they will provide you with a test before you leave the UK and arrange either a video call or a photograph upload in your destination to verify the test and the result will be sent by email to you. A list of providers that have been approved by the government can be found at https://www.gov.uk/find-travel-test-provider.
Many countries require proof of vaccination status at their borders and to enter public spaces such as hospitality venues, tourist attractions, accommodation etc and the NHS Covid travel pass is accepted for this throughout Europe. The NHS smartphone app is a convenient way to store this pass or it is possible to get a printed copy which is valid for 30 days. See here for more information: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-covid-pass
As rules and regulations can change quickly it is really important to check the official guidance before and during your holidays.
You should be prepared for possible queues at Eurotunnel and ferry ports due to increased documentation checks. Plus facemasks may still be mandatory on ferry crossings and within Europe.
The current situation means that we are taking campsite bookings for countries where the FCDO advice allows travel and UK tourists are permitted to enter without quarantine.
We are continually monitoring the situation and will keep this page updated with the latest information. Eurotunnel and the ferry companies continue to operate reduced schedules and can be booked for all travel dates.
