Lovely and friendly site

Kendal Club Campsite
This is one of our favourite sites. It's very well laid out and peaceful. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It's become our "go to" site when we want a relaxing couple of days away, as it's only an hour's drive away from home. Not a site if you want excitement, but one where you can wind down and enjoy the walks around the site and alongside the river. About four miles off the M6 along a dual carriageway. The last stage is narrow and a bit rough, but only about half a mile and with plenty of passing places. Folk coming in the opposite direction are usually quite courteous and considerate.

VERY DISAPPOINTING

Kendal Club Campsite
We’ve just had 9 nights at this site and were grateful to leave. This site is in the centre of woodland. The single track road to the site is long, full of potholes with insufficient passing places which are used for the fishermen to park their vehicles! We had our hearts in our mouths dreading any oncoming vehicle. Because it is solid woodland little to no sunlight manages to come through so sitting outside in the sun on the majority of pitches is pointless. The majority of pitches are under the trees and when the rain comes as it so often does in Cumbria it forces the trees to drop their leaves and branches onto the caravan. The site is very hilly and the pitches are located in various little bays. Having said all that the site wardens were pleasant and the facilities clean. Would I go back or recommend this site. NO

Great base

Kendal Club Campsite
Stayed for 2 nights at this lovely peaceful site. Friendly and efficient welcome from the wardens. Facilities very clean. Great base to explore the Lakes and the Arnside area. We enjoyed a meal at the nearby Strickland Arms and enjoyed the walk along the river from the site. Will definitely revisit when exploring around here as it’s very convenient.

Tight access to some pitches

Kendal Club Campsite
Booked to stay as stop over from Scotland trip, access road very poor condition, pleasant reception from staff, were on a hard standing non awning pitch, access was tight with only about 6 inches of space between back of caravan and bank, not enough room in front for car to manoeuvre caravan, no motor mover so had to manually spin caravan on pitch. Slightly off level side to side but unable to use ramps due to not being able to move caravan. Site very quiet, facilities clean but could have been more of for size and spread of site. Have to watch out for Wardens speeding around site on electric golf cart. Speed bumps only to half of roadway. Access times important due to access road. Would visit again

Fantastic Stay

Kendal Club Campsite
What a lovely hidden gem. We were blessed with lovely weather but also had a great pitch in a secluded spot. The walk by the river is gorgeous and the wardens could not have been more friendly or helpful. One point though, on the exit from the site people had dropped dog poo bags, I just cannot understand why decent people would do this, one nearly did a lot of damage to our puppy who had to be taken to the vets for emergency treatment. Again the wardens could not have helped us more. A wonderful stay and we will definitely be going back, but depressing to think that a minority of folk can behave irresponsibly.
