Why stay here ...

There's very much a water-themed aspect to Shawsmead Club Campsite as its close proximity to the coast and quaint little bays means swimming and water sports will be filling up much of your holiday time here. A peaceful meadowland caravan site, you'll feel positively tiny amongst the vast open areas and wondrous views towards the coast.

Shawsmead Club Campsite, situated next to the lovely village of Derwen-Gam, is also close to the Heritage Coastal Paths - a memorable experience as is the fishing and bird watching available. Along the coast, there are plenty of beaches and little coves to explore. Four golf courses nearby and the local craft centres will keep the senses stimulated. Its locality in Llanarth, Oakford means that you're never far away from the delights of the area. The caravan park is close to Aberaeron, an old-fashioned small town with a sleepy harbour, pebbled beach and Regency cottages painted in pastel shades. New Quay will resonate with the artist within you with a backdrop that comes straight out of an oil painting. It's better known as a traditional fishing village where fish, lobsters and crab are part of the daily catch.

Peace and tranquillity

Shawsmead Club Campsite
Had a fabulous week here at Shawsmead, we were greeted by the lovely wardens Rob and Patsy and nothing was too much trouble ,the site was immaculately kept and great size pitches and everyone had facilities close by ie. Water waste and recycling stations, the washing up station was fabulous I didn’t even mind doing the dishes (don’t tell the wife ) the shower block was spotless the highlight of our week were the Red kite flying over which I will post on their Facebook page , Our stay was during the Jubilee celebrations and Rob and patsy made us welcome with a celebratory drink /gathering with all the other holiday makers which was a lovely gesture and got to meet some lovely people I will definitely be returning here

What a lovely site to stay out

Shawsmead Club Campsite
This was a lovely site to stay at. The wardens Patsy and Rob very friendly and very helpful no issue too big to help with he would go back and stay again in a heartbeat. A few local shops close by for the bigger shops you got Aberystwyth about 20 miles away what a surprise that places is, Close to the Vale of Rydal Railway beautiful beaches plenty to be exploring in the area.

A Gem

Shawsmead Club Campsite
Just spent 4 days at this site. It is a small site, hidden away, but well worth finding. We received a very warm welcome and found a large level pitch. The facilities were excellent and spotless. WiFi very good. Excellent base to strike out to the nearby coastal spots: Aberaeron, New Quay and Aberystwyth. We enjoyed the National Trust's Llanerchaeron which is minutes away. We'll return.

Quiet little site

Shawsmead Club Campsite
One of the clubs smaller sites with only 48 pitches doesn’t detract from the allure of this site. If you are looking for a excellently presented and cared for site then this is it. The facilities are spotless and of a high standard. The wardens are friendly and nothing appeared too much trouble. The site is in a rural setting a mile and a half or so from the main A487 and only a short drive from the seaside towns of Aberaeron and New Quay. Dolphins can regularly been seen from the harbour side at New Quay - we saw them! Great location for exploring this area of Cardigan Bay. The one thing for us that would make this a 5 star plus site would be an on-site dog walk but we knew there wasn’t one before we booked.

Peaceful and clean

Shawsmead Club Campsite
I found the wardens to be polite and professional, maybe not overly friendly but pleasant enough, and certainly they did a good job of keeping the site and facilities in tip-top condition. No complaints at all. As it's a rural setting it would have been nice to have a well-stocked little shop on site for essentials, whereas even the ice cream freezer was empty. Very peaceful setting, we watched red kites in the woods behind us, and enjoyed our three night's stay here and will be back.
