Excellent Site

Yellowcraig Club Campsite
A favourite of ours but agree with some of the previous reviews. We did see some queue jumping and there was a certain Motorhome that had some fortress structure built around it plus an additional car! This is a popular site and we will be returning in the near future, facilities are clean and staff are friendly. We love the area and there’s plenty to do.

Queue jumping

Yellowcraig Club Campsite
Queue jumping. Stayed in May 2022 for 2 weeks This practice was apparent on a number of occasions. It works like this. Whilst in the queue before check in the passenger of the vehicle alights walks into club site find a pitch they want and then leaves a marker as if occupied. The variation on this is for the passenger to stand guard on the pitch until the rig has arrived. On one occasion a passenger even asked to borrow a bowl from a pitched caravan owner to claim the space. This was declined by the way. The staff are aware of this problem. I have no first hand knowledge of this problem on other sites but certainly exist at Yellowcraig

Great site, great location but.....

Yellowcraig Club Campsite
Ok, so we’ve been coming here for a while and it remains a favourite. Not just for us, but many others, given the occupancy which is always pretty full. And it’s easy to see why. The rather special sandy beach, a few minutes walk away, the John Muir walk to North Berwick and Dirleton, the closeness of Edinburgh itself. All these and more make this a “must stay” location. But (and there had to be one, didn’t there?)... The site is becoming quite tired and is almost a victim of its own success. The pitches can be quite cramped, and the closeness of other guests rigs can be intrusive. Some guests have taken to using huge, massive awnings which more than double the footprint of their caravans. This can impinge on others available space. Similarly, the small “side on” pitches are really only suitable for small campervans and yet large caravans and motorhomes have to be squeezed on them due to the lack of pitches elsewhere. The facilities are perfectly adequate, but not outstanding, and they are in need of some renovation. So, it’s really time for a refresh and refurbishment with perhaps some consideration for a rethink on the layout of the entire site. This might require fewer pitches, but it’s a bit like a restaurant taking on too many covers. Everyone suffers. Far, far better to have fewer, better pitches. Everyone will be happier. For now, visit the site and enjoy the location. But be aware that you choice of pitch may be limited, and limited in size... and close to your neighbours.

Pleasant site

Yellowcraig Club Campsite
Pleasant site, close to beach and a nice walk to local village, although the only shop seems to be a very nice ice cream and coffee shop. Site is fairly level and we had no trouble pitching up, with easy access to amenities.
