Why stay here ...

With the lovely fells soaring up and wild flowers in bloom everywhere, the Borrowdale Club Campsite is a delight to the eye. Located about 5 miles from Keswick and set in National Trust woodland, the caravan park offers numerous walking paths to explore the beautiful northern Lakes area. It doesn't have to be strenuous - forest trails, nature trails, guided walks and farm walks leave you spoilt for choice. There is a convenient bus service that runs from the site.

If the Lakes themselves are the main attraction on your holiday break, Borrowdale Club Campsite puts you within easy reach of Derwentwater, popular for its boats and vibrant marina, not to mention its range of pubs and restaurants. Bassenthwaite Water is also a short distance away from the caravan site and merits exploration for its Sailing Club. If more tranquil surroundings are what you're after, the charming waters of Buttermere and Crummock Water would be just the ticket, as here there is only the occasional passing rowing boat to disturb your lakeside reveries. The lovely local scenery also includes the dramatic hills of Castle Crag and Cats Bells. The hamlet of Grange, with a tea shop on the picturesque banks of the river is only a short walk away and local pubs & restaurants are within easy reach of the site.

Please note: This site does not have a toilet block.

Directions

Please only use these recommended directions for the final approach and not sat nav, due to alternative routes being unsuitable for towing. Leave M6 at junction 40 onto the A66 (Keswick). On the outskirts of Keswick keep right onto the bypass (signposted Cockermouth A66). Within 1.5 miles at the roundabout turn left (signposted A5271 Keswick, Borrowdale B5289). At the T-junction turn left; and at mini roundabout turn right and follow signposts onto the B5289. In about 4.25 miles (about 0.5 mile past Borrowdale Hotel) turn right over the bridge (care required) into the road signposted Grange, Newlands (please ignore width restriction sign, this does not apply to the bridge). The site is on the right in 1 mile. Please note: when towing, do not approach or leave site along the west side of Derwentwater. Also, before turning right off the B5289 at Grange, check that bridge (takes all caravans) is clear. Care needed through Grange village, on double humpbridge and on final approach (narrow) and turning into site.

First time here, not the last.

Borrowdale Club Campsite
The only bad thing you could ever say about this site is the way in. For people with an eight foot wide unit, do not be put off with the 6 foot 6 inch width limit. Th bridge is nearly 10 feet wide and straight all the way over. You then need care for the left hander and the following right hander then care is needed because some people do not park considerately. There are 2 more potential hazards, a narrow squeeze between a tree and an old stone gate post, then the entrance to the site itself where care is necessary. Once having got there prepare to unwind because peace is all there is. Be prepared to feed the Red squirrels and the birds. The birdsong is delightful as are the walks around the site which is laid out so that you feel you are on a 5 van c.l. rather than a large site. The minimum facilities are well looked after by the lovely site managers who, incidentally keep the squirrel and bird boxes well stocked for your enjoyment. Don’t let the driving hazards put you off, just be prepared, have one of the quietest holidays available in lovely woodland.

Finley’s first trip

Borrowdale Club Campsite
Stayed for 8 nights at this wonderful quiet site set in the woods and only 100 yards to the shore of Derwent Water . Fantastic wardens were so helpful and friendly to us and our little pup. The pitches are scattered about the site and are vey individual, set in little groups amongst the woodland with plenty of privacy. Most look pretty level. Gates lead into Manesty Woods with lots of dog walks possible. Site is very well maintained. Easy access on foot to Cat Bells , Maiden Moor , High Spy and beyond. The Mary Mount is great For a beer and very dog friendly - biscuits galore for our pup. It’s just a grand place to be and we will be back - no toilet block - not a problem for us

Lovely quiet site

Borrowdale Club Campsite
Last week (18h October) I was lucky to stay for four nights at this lovely quiet site. It is relatively easy to reach and only 10 minutes drive from Keswick. It’s ideally positioned for easy access to the fells and lake and right next to the quiet hamlet of Grange which has a cafe. Friendly wardens and loads of wildlife to watch including red squirrels. I didn’t want to leave and needless to say I will be returning next year when they reopen.

Perfect one night stay, wish it could have been longer

Borrowdale Club Campsite
After spending the day in Keswick we tried here for a night's stay even though the sign said full...we were in luck they'd had a cancellation, the site was beautiful and our pitch was close to the path to the lake and had plenty of room for our awning, chair's etc. We had a great walk by the lake, a brilliant night's sleep (it was so peaceful and relaxing) and woke up to bird song... perfect The motorhome amenities were great to waste emptying and rubbish all in one area and easily accessible. I would highly recommend this site and will be back again for longer with the kayak.
