Why stay here ...

Set on a small hillside, Minehead Club Campsite is spread across several flat areas, all of which are attractively screened from the road with plentiful trees and bushes. For shopping and all the attractions of a traditional British seaside resort, Minehead is only a 15-minute walk from the caravan site. Another tempting attraction to visit when touring in Somerset is nearby Dunster Castle. Beautiful Exmoor, famous as Lorna Doone country, is also a popular draw, especially for walkers and those with dogs. There are also excellent bus links to explore the Quantocks, Porlock, Taunton and Dulverton.

The coastal path near Minehead Club Campsite is marvellous, with many of its vistas being more impressive than the last. The little lanes and small, intimate villages, such as Porlock, Porlock Weir, Selworthy and the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth are all well worth the visit for their charm and easily accessible from the caravan park. You can also enjoy a scenic steam train journey to Bishops Lydeard which takes in plenty of stops along the way. Be it countryside walks or a taste of the rural life, there is bound to be something to delight visitors to this tranquil destination.

Set arrival time

Minehead Club Campsite
We turned up at 12:00 after a 3 hour journey and was told by warden that we were early and couldn’t wait on site and would have to go off site and park up for an hour. This was our first visit to site and didn’t know area and when we asked where was a suitable local parking space for car and caravan told to visit a supermarket. Initially told we couldn’t access any area of site to wait until 1:00 but allowed to enter park to turn around before having to exit site for 1 hour. Noticed there were a few areas we could wait but didn’t want to disobey wardens orders so spent an hour having to go through Minehead’s narrow streets with caravan looking for a supermarket, trying to fill 1 hour before we could go back onto site. Accept there are office hours and wardens have other duties but think this was unreasonable . Warden informed us this was now CC policy and if they allowed discretion to one person they would have to allow it to everyone. Not come across this on any other site and have been a member for many years.

We recently had a 4 day stay at the Minehead site. It is a super site. Always very clean .The staff are exceptional and so helpful. The site is close to many amenities and places to see. I highly recommend a stay here. We have been several times before and its been brilliant each time we have stayed.

Minehead Club Campsite
This site is very well located to both relax, eat out and explore Exmoor. It is complimented by the hard working, conscientious and friendly site staff. The site is well maintained and has a good atmosphere, well done to the wardens both long term and the current relief staff👏👏👏

Unpleasant confrontation with relief warden

Minehead Club Campsite
I should probably preface this review by stating that the permanent site wardens, Sam and Zoe, are a really lovely couple and an absolute credit to the CMC. They were very excited to meet our 13 week old Border Collie and were keen to introduce him to their dog Mouse. Sadly (for us), halfway through our stay, Sam and Zoe embarked on a well-deserved break. They were replaced by temporary relief wardens who were parked up on the pitch immediately adjacent to ours. Literally within minutes of them assuming control, one of the relief wardens was banging on my van door to bring to my attention a stain on the grassy strip between our pitches, which he said indicated that my dog was using the area as a toilet. I explained that our dog was a baby, just 13 weeks old, and did not have sufficient bowel control to make it all the way to the dog walk area. However, we were careful to always pick up after our dog. In fact, I am pretty anal about this! He also stated that we were not allowed to place the puppy's pen on the grassy strip. I explained that we had no choice since the puppy had started swallowing the gravel on our pitch and I did not want a large vet’s bill. He insisted that things had to change, so they did – we immediately curtailed our holiday at CMC Minehead and relocated to a nearby “Friendly Club” site. In all our years of caravanning and motor-homing we have never felt so uncomfortable and been made to feel so unwelcome before. To explain our overall rating, Sam and Zoe get full marks. The relief warden gets null points on account of his lack of people skills and puppy love.
