Why stay here ...

Set in the beautiful location of an old walled garden on the picturesque Chatsworth Estate, the Chatsworth Park Club Campsite in Bakewell offers nostalgic views of the sheep-cropped rolling countryside, with some lovely walks. One of our sites in Derbyshire, the caravan park is a lovely holiday retreat for the family to escape the bustle of city living. Surrounded by lots of wildlife, it is fantastic for deer watching.

The Horse Trials that take place in May and the Country Fair in September are just two of the fantastic attractions conveniently nearby the Chatsworth Park Club Campsite. One of the first visits on the list should be to the House, where you can immerse yourself in history as you wander round the beautifully decorated rooms, formal gardens and the famously lovely cascade. Another place for an unforgettably scenic stroll is the 1000-acre park laid out by Capability Brown. For those who want to sample and take home authentic country delights, the nearby farm shop boasts superior marmalades and jams amongst many other scrumptious treats. The village of Baslow is a 15 minute walk with a couple of good pubs, including the refurbished Devonshire Arms. Bakewell market on Mondays is recommended. Children visiting the caravan site will enjoy the farmyard and adventure playground, guaranteed to give them hours of fun.

Great site, beautiful location

Chatsworth Park Club Campsite
This was our first stay at Chatsworth (two nights with Labrador). Because of limited availability of standard pitches we stayed on a super pitch and we were really pleased with the site facilities and helpful staff, and, of course, as so many have said, the really superb setting in the walled garden near Chatsworth House. Ease of access to dog walking facilities (free run in an enclosed area near the entrance door to the estate) meant the 6 am walk was no problem, and of course the acres of walking on the estate and in the house gardens are close to hand. Numerous artistic displays on the estate were superb and so impressive. The gardens are well worth a visit and we will be returning to visit the gardens again together with some of the local villages (we skipped the house because dogs aren't allowed). We did find that we were unable to get tv reception using our aerial, but the pitch supply box has a site aerial connection which we used after purchasing aerial cable available from reception, and reception was fine. With so many things to see and so many places to visit, we would have like to stay for more that two nights so a second visit is on the cards..

Absolutely loved this site

Chatsworth Park Club Campsite
From the moment we arrived the wardens were so helpful and friendly. Beautiful site, love the fact that you can access Chatsworth House directly from the site. Site is very well kept and looked after. We loved our late evening walks deer spotting. There is so much to do locally and so many restaurants close by you will be spoilt for choice. This has got to be one of my favourite sites and we will definitely return.

Great spot

Chatsworth Park Club Campsite
Second stay, again in a little enclave by the ‘secret door’ to the estate grounds. Usual peace and quiet apart from the crows of course. They are loud as others say - hence the phrase ‘stone the crows’ I suppose?! A non PC solution these days needless to say. The site is clean and tidy as you would expect from a club site and access to the estate grounds is the highlight. The gardens were lovely with much to see at this time of year.

Great location for visiting Chatsworth & The Peak District

Chatsworth Park Club Campsite
This site couldn't be better placed for visiting Chatsworth and other places in the Peak District such as Buxton, Bakewell and the Monsal Trail, but not a site we will be going back to. It was very clean and the facilities were modern and spotless with very hard working, helpful and friendly wardens. Chatsworth is a must for a visit and the gardens were even more impressive than the House and that was special. The Pizza oven on a Sunday evening was fantastic, probably amongst the best pizzas I've ever had but missed the fish and chip van so can't comment on that. The downside for us was that it felt very cramped, the rooks were some of the noisiest birds I've ever heard and the debris that came off the trees made a real mess of the awning and took us two days to get rid of when we got home. Suits some people, but not us I'm afraid.

Excellent site.

Chatsworth Park Club Campsite
This is a lovely site. The facilities are all spot on. The staff are very friendly & were exceptionally helpful when we asked to stay an extra night. We love the door in the wall giving access to Chatsworth grounds. I’ve knocked a point off due to the very noisy crows but obviously this is not the fault of the site!
