Why stay here ...

A pleasant and peaceful holiday destination, the beautifully maintained Ilminster Club Campsite slopes slightly towards some of the loveliest South Somerset countryside and has great open views. Located just off the A303 and with a new toilet block built, the site is ideal as a touring base for Devon, Dorset and Somerset. It also makes a good stopover for travelling further south. The busy market towns of Chard and Ilminster are situated close to the caravan site and have a deep history of country trades. You will be staying in Hamstone country where you'll be sure to recognise the golden stone used for buildings wherever you go in this charming area. For dining, the nearby Eagle pub offer good value food.

Ilminster Club Campsite is in an area rich with the legends of King Arthur and you can soak up the tales and the atmospheres of England's great mythical king at nearby Cadbury and Glastonbury. The scenic coast and delightful port of Lyme Regis are also within easy distance of the site and for golf enthusiasts the championship golf course at Windwhistle won't fail to impress. For walkers and bird watchers, caravanning in Somerset will introduce you to the nature reserve at Chard Reservoir - a must-visit - there are lovely trails to follow and more than 150 species of bird to see, including migrant Ospreys.

Directions

Please only use these recommended directions for your final approach and not sat nav, due to alternative roads being unsuitable for towing. Turn left off the A303 (Ilminster - Honiton) at crossroads signposted Crickleaze, Whitestaunton (about 0.75 mile past La Campagna, Restaurant & Bar) into narrow lane. The site is through the second entrance on the left in 250 yards. Do not turn into first entrance (Five Acres House) as it is difficult to back out. Brilliant reception

Ilminster Club Campsite
A most welcoming warden when booking in not sure if it was Mandy or Sue but many thanks very professional indeed. These two clearly enjoy their work. Lovely site and extremely convenient heading for a Cornwall Tour and stopping over ( sorry Mandy and Sue) but well worth staying much longer as we did only a few years ago. I kind of wish it had a larger and better designed shower block but appreciate there must be reason for the unusual raised block and therefore all the ramps for access. Well maintained and obviously loved by these two great job.

Excellent site

Ilminster Club Campsite
First trip of the year to the excellent ilminster site. I cannot fault this site, the grounds are very well kept and as usual the facilities are spotless, the wardens Mandy and Sue whilst being very professional are also warm and welcoming always ready to give advice if needed. Our favourite go to location.

A Perfect Summer

Ilminster Club Campsite
For the first time my husband and I decided to try a seasonal pitch booking, We chose the Ilminster site as we had stayed at the site on many occasions and found it a great base for visiting all the places we love. On our arrival we unhooked the caravan and found to our dismay that the motor mover wasn't working. Within minutes one of the wardens, Mandy, asked us if there was a problem and we explained the situation, Within minutes she was back with her tractor and sited the caravan perfectly. That first action summed up our experience all summer - nothing was too much trouble for the wardens Mandy and Sue. As well as keeping the site beautiful they were always there to offer advice, offer a helping hand and share a good chat and a laugh. So, as well as choosing a great site we had also found great wardens who ensured our first fixed seasonal pitch was a real success, From May through to September we visited and stayed several times. We walked the stunning coastal path and the Blackdown Hills, enjoyed Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Seaton. We visited Glastonbury, Wells, Exeter, Exmouth and scores of pretty villages. On each return we came back to find our pitch beautifully maintained - Mandy would move our van to keep the grass perfectly trimmed. As well as that it was great to know that Mandy and Sue were there in our absence looking after our property and keeping it safe. The summer of 2021 wasn't a great time for everyone when it came to having a holiday but for us it will stay in our memories as a perfect summer on a lovely site with the best landladies it was possible to have! With grateful thanks Teresa and Bob Dawes

Another successful visit

Ilminster Club Campsite
Another successful visit to Ilminster club site, this site is the perfect example of how a site should be run, immaculate grounds and spotless facilities. Mandy and Sue are very friendly and helpful as well as professional in everything they do. The site is perfectly placed to visit the local attractions with several National Trust properties nearby. Have already booked for next season.
