Why stay here ...

Englethwaite Hall Club Campsite is a tranquil oasis scattered with rhododendrons from the garden of the former Old Hall. Located in the Eden Valley of Carlisle, the caravan park is set against a backdrop of the lovely High Stand Forest. Recent reports show that the number of red squirrels in the area has increased, so you may be lucky to see some during your visit. The site now offers a viewing hide from which you can watch red squirrels.

Come for a night, stay for a week. That's what happens to those using the Englethwaite Hall Club Campsite as a stopover during the drive to Scotland on the M6. The area is especially popular for walkers because of its convenient footpath access to uncrowded landscapes and scenic beauty - the Eden Valley riverside walk is a special treat. For added activities such as a swimming pool, cinema, restaurants and pubs, the nearby town of Carlisle won't disappoint. The town can be reached by steam train, along a line which passes through scenic countryside and waterfalls. The Settle to Carlisle Railway runs right past the bottom of the site driveway. In the summer special steam train events pass the site twice a week and visitors can stand right by the track to enjoy the atmosphere and take photographs. Carlisle Castle and the famous Hadrian's Wall are only a short drive away. The site is a perfect choice for those with dogs, with many local dog-friendly pubs. A serene gem surrounded by views of the Lakeland fells and wild flower scattered country lanes, the caravan site offers an excellent escape.

The site is quiet during the school holidays, making it the ideal choice for those seeking a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Service pitches are available.

Please note: This site does not have a toilet block.

Excellent

Englethwaite Hall Club Campsite
I stayed on this site for 4 nights earlier this month and found it to be truly excellent in every way. The staff always seem to be working somewhere maintaining cleanliness and appearance to the highest standard, I really cannot fault it just great.

Little Gem

Englethwaite Hall Club Campsite
Beautiful little site, lovely warm welcome by the new wardens who held a get together with drinks etc for the Jubilee. Lucky enough to be on a serviced pitch to make up for the lack of a toilet block. Also lucky again to be pitched within the WiFi Hot spot area and the speed was pretty good. One area is quite open with plenty of sunshine and countryside views, the others sheltered by trees and lovely bushes.only there for three nights but managed to visit Hadrians Wall and stunning Ullswater which was very busy for the Jubilee weekend.

A hidden gem

Englethwaite Hall Club Campsite
Stopped here for one night on our way home as it has easy access from M6. Made most welcome by the warden on arrival. Had a modern serviced pitch set in the middle of the site where the hall once stood. Site is quiet and has a super dog walk, red squirrel viewing hide and an amazing Fairy Glen walk. We were intrigued by the hall’s history of being used as a hospital during the First World War. Remnants remain in the grand stone steps and lime tree avenues. No toilet block, but waste facilities are spread around the site so never too far to use them. We will definitely return for a longer visit.

Peaceful site for a quiet trip

Englethwaite Hall Club Campsite
We stayed for 2 nights on our way home from a longer trip in the NE. The site has no toilets or showers so we booked a serviced pitch, which was well-maintained and made things a lot easier. The site is clean and tidy, the views are fab and the wardens are friendly. It’s possible to walk to the pub from the site but takes about 25 minutes at a decent pace. There weren’t many families staying on the site. We are a 30-something couple and we found it to be perfect for us. We had a lovely stay and we will be returning.

Two night stopover

Englethwaite Hall Club Campsite
On our way to Dumfries and Galloway. First time here, recommended by a friend as a cracker of a site. Bumpy road access, but fine if you keep your speed down! The site is a gem, despite having no facilities block. Lovely and quiet and the pitches are well spaced and placed. All really well maintained and presented. A credit to the site stall. There are a couple of nice pubs in the adjacent village, both of which serve food. What’s not to like?
