Thetford Forest Club Campsite is set in luscious Forestry Commission woodland. Quiet and secluded, the caravan park offers pitching areas in open glades and tempting trails for exploring the natural charms of the surrounding area. Within the forest there is a memorial area and guided trail dedicated to the Desert Rats, who were based and trained here during the Second World War. On-site there is an abundance of wildlife, with deer often spotted in the early mornings. The site is wonderful for dogs, with great walks nearby.

Within a short distance from Thetford Forest Club Campsite you will discover the market town of Swaffham. Steeped in Georgian history, the town also has a fine Saturday market for some leisurely retail therapy. It is also known for being the birthplace of Howard Carter, discoverer of Tutankhamun's tomb, and there is an extensive exhibition about him in the local history museum located above the town hall. Both King's Lynn and Norwich have other historical centres of note, and are within easy driving distance of the caravan park. Another excellent day excursion would be the beautiful Norfolk coastline with its many charming villages. High Lodge Forest Park is a great day out for kids and Lynford Hall and Arboretum offer some lovely walks. Plenty of pubs including The Swan in Hilborough, can be reached within a short car ride.

Great Stay

Thetford Forest Club Campsite
My thanks to the Wardens for their help with the RAC who came to take my caravan home! Apart from that it was a lovely stay and of course I drove home without towing which was a plus (apart from missing my onboard loo!) Love this site been here before and no doubt will visit again once I get the right indicator going on the caravan! For those interested in old churches finding St Mary's at Houghton on the Hill is well worth it. https://www.houghtonstmarys.org.uk/ I found it fascinating. I enjoyed a trip to Great Yarmouth and may well stay at the Club site there one day. The dogs loved the forest and all the wildlife. Muntjacks seen most evenings on our walks and squirrels - far too many of them! Great little shop at Mundford - or the roundabout just further on for ceramics and presents.

Perfect and dogs loved it

Thetford Forest Club Campsite
Just spent 2 lovely days at this location, very peaceful and surrounded by lots of great walking areas in the forest. Great for dogs and although the site is in the forest there were lots of pitches in the sunshine. The site was very clean and very well maintained and the wardens were friendly and chatty. We will return to this site again.

Nice site spoilt by Wardens dogs

Thetford Forest Club Campsite
Lovely location, spoilt by Wardens three dogs constantly yapping every time someone enters or leaves the site.. I first visited this site many years ago but won't be rushing back. If you do chose to visit, make sure you pitch as far away from the entrance as possible. The Crown Hotel in Mundford is very welcoming and serves goo food.

Not so good for cycling

Thetford Forest Club Campsite
We visited Thetford site last week for four days. We always take our bikes as we prefer to cycle using an OS map and finding small roads and villages etc. However, we found it very difficult to access anywhere without cycling on the main A road which was just so busy. Some of the trails through the forest are quite deep shale so unless you have wide tyres its very tricky riding. We did manage to find our way round to Ickburgh and then Lynford Arboretum and Lynford Stag but by cycling through the forest trails which although enjoyable, are very bumpy. So although it is a beautiful peaceful site, you can't get very far on your bikes unless you're happy to go on the A roads.

Fantastic & relaxing site

Thetford Forest Club Campsite
Just back from 4 nights at one of our favourite sites. All good, as usual. Points to beware of - hard standings are very stand - expect to struggle putting an awning up. It can be done but it's hard work on most of the hard standings. Take strong pegs and a big hammer! The wardens 4 Yorkshire terriers are under better control, with just one rogue dog. But otherwise it's a fantastic site that always pleases. We always meet nice people here too - it's all very private and quiet - but friendly.
