Why stay here ...

Clumber Park Club Campsite is currently undergoing some exciting redevelopments. Improvements to this site include new facilities blocks (featuring level access, dishwashing, laundry and family room), new serviced and premium pitches, a new play area, extra secure bike storage and electric vehicle (EV) charging in the car park. (Expected reopening date: September 2022).

In the meantime, you might like to try some alternative campsites nearby:

  • Poolsbrook Country Park - 12 miles (West)
  • Milestone Caravan Park Affiliated Site - 14 miles (South)
  • Chatsworth Country Park - 23 miles (West)

A great feeling of spaciousness can be found at Clumber Park Club Campsite, which is settled on 20 acres within a generous 4,000 acres of lush parkland, where you can walk, cycle or ride. The caravan site has a popular play area and enjoys an attractive setting surrounded by woodland. Children will enjoy Clumber Park as it is part of what was once Sherwood Forest and the reminders of the area's most famous resident, Robin Hood are plentiful. Clumber Park was once the estate of the Dukes of Newcastle, and is now owned by the National Trust. The house was demolished in 1938 but there is still evidence of the historic buildings that once stood to be explored.

The Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre is a mere 10 miles from Clumber Park Club Campsite and offers many attractions to entertain and educate about this legendary figure. The Major Oak is a must as it is said that he had hidden here, along with his merry men. The Clumber Park food festival, held in the heart of the forest, is a great opportunity to experience culinary delights and sample local beverages. The city of Nottingham is within easy reach of the caravan park.

Halloween at Clumber

Clumber Park Club Campsite
We were so disappointed that Clumber was closing that we booked the last possible night we could, 30th October 2021. We had not anticipated arriving in the middle of the Halloween event. The fancy dress was just being judged and the best pumpkin and best decorated "van" followed at dusk. We thought we might have a noisy evening, but after all the fun it was as quiet as usual. A very well managed event as we would expect at this site where the staff are excellent.

Cycling around the park

Clumber Park Club Campsite
Had a good few days cycling around Clumber Park on our electric bikes while on a four night stay. Has been posted before NO Phone signal and for us that's a problem as we Geocache and a good signal is a must. It did not stop us getting over 100 new caches found but we like logging them at night not live so to speak. Hope with the site getting its long awaited upgrade something can be done to help get a better phone signal. Not sure what would happen in a emergency away from the wardens office. Had a nice lunch at the National Trust Cafe but the best bit of the trip was seeing all the Swans and Geese that took off from the lake one day. There must have been 200 Swans and way over 500 geese and boy when they all went at the same time what a racket , nature in the raw would not have been surprised if Sir David Attenborough had have come out of the bushes along with a BBC film crew. Special or what.

Gutted it's shutting but needs it's revamp

Clumber Park Club Campsite
We have just had a 6 night stay. Our first was back in 2006! We love this site, in the week it's so quiet. The wardens work hard to keep this big site looking it's best. And have the shop well stocked, which is great as nothing within walking distance. This site isn't far from home so it's a good one for a weekend for us, we have stayed lots of times and have never been disappointed. Very sad that it is closing now for the refurbishment, but it is badly needed. The toilet blocks are kept clean but the facilities are very old and haven't been updated since we first visited in 2006! They've lasted well. We shall look forward to visiting when it is open again late next year. **I would just say that every single time we have been here the wardens have asked if we have bikes and if we have they have told us about the bike store and the issues with bike thefts from the site. There are also posters in the shower blocks, reception area, information room. I think the wardens do a fab job making sure bikes don't get stolen, but every time stay we see someone not following the guidance, hence the thieves will keep coming back**
