Great Central location for exploring an area packed with culture and history

Strathclyde Country Park Club Campsite
Great place for exploring this area and for stopovers when heading north or south. Yes, there is road noise, but the site is surrounded by trees and we didn't find it a problem. We tend to be out and about in the day. Facilities were great and the country park is a pleasant add on. I found early morning the best time to walk the lake.

Great place as a base

Strathclyde Country Park Club Campsite
Others have complained about road noise. Whilst it was noticeable, it soon blended into the background but the site wasn't as peaceful as it otherwise would have been in such a brilliant location on the edge of the country park. It's such a convenient location for visiting the area around Glasgow. The Museum of Transport and Tall Ship on the Clyde were superb (with a good cafe as well). The Falkirk Wheel was mind-blowing. Much to do there. Don't be put off by negative comments. Try it for yourself if thinking about venturing into Scotland (or coming the other way into England).

Noisy

Strathclyde Country Park Club Campsite
One night stay on way back from Scotland tour, nice site easy to access, clean facilities, Toby carvery within walking distance if don’t want to cook, also do breakfast. Closeness to motorway has its downsides, constant noise 24/7. It just doesn’t stop. Ok for the one night wouldn’t stay longer as need to sleep.

Great Stopover

Strathclyde Country Park Club Campsite
Stayed a couple of nights on our way to another site in Scotland. The motorway was noisy but then again the campsite is right next to it. We took a walk in the Country Park to stretch our legs which was ideal. The site staff were very helpful in advising on local supermarkets and petrol stations.

Constant road noise

Strathclyde Country Park Club Campsite
We stayed at the site for one night each in April and May as a stopover on our trip to Scotland. The loud noise from the motorway and nearby road junction was continuous day and night. On our first visit we walked to the country park but found it very unnatural and disappointing, right next to the M6 and were shocked by the amount of litter around the path and benches so it wasn't a pleasant experience. Other than that the staff were very friendly and helpful and the pitches and facilities were good.
