Why stay here ...

Located amidst lovely rose gardens and flowering shrubs, The Ranch Club Site in scenic South West Scotland is a great holiday destination for the family. Boasting excellent facilities, the caravan park offers a safe play area for children as well as a heated indoor pool, sauna and gymnasium. Please note that there is a small charge for the use of the pool.

The Ranch Club Site gives fishing enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy hours of sport only 1.5 miles away at a licensed, well stocked trout pool in Loch Mochrum. For history buffs, the town of Maybole has many remarkable buildings steeped in antiquity on the High street. Maybole Castle dates back as far as 1560. The parish church with its striking orange stone and square spire looks as if it would be quite at home in an Aztec Temple. The Burns Heritage Trail is another must when you are visiting Robbie Burns country. For a fun drive from the caravan site take the road up Croy Brae, a famously magnetic hill. The optical illusion created when the brakes are off is that the car appears to move uphill.

We wouldn't go back

The Ranch
The site was very quiet whilst we were there but we weren't warned that some pitches were subject to really unpleasant windy conditions. The chemical toilet was actually the worst we've seen in the UK with no real segregation with the grey water point and no running water actually at the emptying point. Not what we expected from a site with the club logo on

not be back

The Ranch
we had a serviced pitch which was nice, big pitch sizes, nice dog walk, phoned for indian takeaway and came to the site. that was the good side, the bad side of this site is seen dogs just running about shitting all over the place, was talking to a man across from me, he said it was like that the last time ( last month ) he was here too. people walking past, right next to your van door, going to the dog walk, the caravan next to me put there wind breakers up to stop people doing the same to them.sorry not for me. poor, very poor.

Won’t be back

The Ranch
We booked in for three nights as part of a Spring Break in Southern Scotland. Oh dear the toilets and showers did not seem to have been cleaned during the time we were there. The waste bin in the gents was not emptied for 36hours with no paper towels and a hand dryer not working. The large bin in the ladies was not emptied at all and the floor remained dirty. We decided this wasn’t satisfactory and decided to leave early. Will not be back again.

Our first visit to this site

The Ranch
This is a rural site and views to the east and south are far reaching and fabulous. You will therefore expect wind in quantity as a result. This members only affiliated site has many static vans and seasonal tourers on pitches. The site roads are mainly to gravel and recycling and other site facilitate not quite as good as, for example, Craigie Gardens. However there is an indoor pool for £3/£2 adults/children and a sauna for £8. Everything here is easygoing. There is a lack of notices usually prevalent throughout club sites, the loo block was lovely and warm. The showers are push button and we're fine for me. Only two of the four mens' showers had a fold down seat to put things on. But hardly anybody seemed to use the block. There were two drone flyers on site when we were there, and one drone was being flown at child head height very close to interested children. Some children were still out and about gone 11pm. Some members have difficulty understanding 5 mph and the one way system signs. Some members could not understand the rule of one car per pitch. We loved the easy pricing structure here, one price for the whole year. Compare that with other club sites and their complex and variable system of charges. Now a heads up about Wifi. Reading the Club Handbook it is clear that there is Wifi here. What is not clear is that the system used is not the Club one. So my annual subscription does not apply to this site and an additional charge would be levied for this private system, which for comparison of the fee for a whole year is three times as much. The Club should use the symbol with a pound sign beside it showing that an additional charge is made so members know in advance. This site is very handy for Culzean Castle and Rabbie Burns etc. Maybole is nothing to write home about but the Chippy was nice and the Spar serves for emergency supplies, otherwise it is Ayr for a large supermarket. We loved the food at the Souter Inn in Kirkoswald. This site is Worth a visit, but weekdays outwith school holidays makes for a quiet stay.
