Why stay here ...

Skegness Sands has all the makings of a classic bucket-and-spade summer holiday. The caravan park boasts private access to the popular promenade plus easy access to both the beach and centre of Skegness (fondly called 'Skeggy' by the locals). Only 2 miles away, the town offers a wide range of restaurants, pubs and shopping treats.

An added bonus of Skegness Sands is that it forms part of a larger complex, which includes a pool, children's play area and toilet block fully refurbished in 2014. If you want to stock up on conveniences without any fuss, the caravan site puts you within easy walking distance from a local supermarket. A traditionally popular seaside resort in the summer, Skegness offers loads of fun outdoor activities such as golf courses, bowling greens, boating lakes, amusement parks and ornamental gardens. The famous Illuminations are another attraction not to be missed.

Nice clean site

Skegness Sands

We stayed here in March just as the season starts to open. On first arrival the staff were very helpful and explained everything well. We booked a hard standing plot which had plenty of space for a awning and a car. The ground is very hard so anybody wanting to put up a awning may need metal pegs and a decent mallet. We was allocated plot 24 which is the closest you can get to the waste/water points and also the ablutions. So we were a little concerned about the noise levels but it was actually still quiet which was nice. The showers are toilets were spotless and seemed to be cleaned 2-3 times a day. The showers were clean and powerful so we used those instead of the caravan shower. The beach is a matter of minutes away from the pitches. A 2 min walk from the hard standing and a 30 second walk from the grass pitches. Once you forfeit your caravan club members card you are given a gate key for the beach key which leads straight onto a flat promenade. The beach is dog friendly and was very quite. This could be due to the time of year we went. A short walk away on the beach front there are two places to get food. A greasy spoon and somewhere to order a range of things including afternoon tea and alcohol. A 5 min walk away from the beach and you will find a spar shop, post office, subway takeaway, Chinese takeaway and a Indian takeaway. There is a fish and chip shop but this was closed being refurbed at the time. Also for kids beach accessories there is a bits and bobs shop selling buckets/spades, wind breakers ect. My only few little problems were the site does not allow children to be children. Yes there is a park. But no ball games, scooters and dogs must be exercised off site. It’s not a big issue as you are close to the beach. The site can be busy with cars and people so I understand the logic behind the decision so we accepted that. The other issue we had was our dog cut her pad on one of the many broken plastic awning pegs on the pitch. So we had to clear the pitch of shards of plastic. She recovered in the caravan but meant we were restricted for our stay which was a shame. All in all a good clean site and we will visit again. We will just be more careful with the broken pegs and we will be trying the grass pitch next time.

Disappointment

Skegness Sands
I stayed here in April on a superpitch which was booked after 2 previous bookings were cancelled. I booked again as soon as I returned home as I wanted the location which is good for someone with walking difficulties. On my booking, I request over 4 different pitches as suggested by the lady when I booked in and on the emails Skegness Sands send. My time in April was lovely but having to face the wind on a daily basis was not nice so on my return, I asked for a pitch that would be facing the other way around. As I will be working in the day in the caravan i then can enjoy my evening. Receiving my confirmation today after booking nearly 2 months ago and also following up with my request which working in the industry I know is only a request but I do my best to accommodate. I get told I'm right outside the toilets I don't need the toilet I have my own and I don't think people are going to be very happy when walking past that my dog will bark and she is a big dog Old English Sheepdog. Anyway, after the plans, I have got in place of my friend staying with me for w few days all I get offered if a full refund this isn't customer service. At this late stage am I'm going to find a decent pitch for 9 nights 4 days away. The facilities were locked up apart from the laundry. the site is well maintained close to the beach, so good to walk your dog. a bit early to be shutting the gate at 5 pm as most sites it up to 7 pm. The staff were friendly and as they gave me the tip to ask for various pitches when booking was very pleased. I think a little less strictness and more personalable service would go a long way into making this site a real winner. Tip for any off the hard standing pitches need a metal mallot to get the pegs in the ground is that hard.

Disappointed

Skegness Sands
The site is very car park like lacking grass and atmosphere, The wardens couldn’t raise a smile or a hello and were surly. The lack of fresh water and waste water points was a real surprise over 100 tourers and motor homes and only one chemical toilet waste point was a joke. Location was good But all amenities were to few Won’t be returning

No views but very close to sea front and prom

Skegness Sands
Not a great first impression, being adjacent to derelict Derbyshire Miners’ Welfare sanatorium and the site being full and the feeling of being cramped, and not at all spacious. The facilities are slightly dated, but appeared clean (although we were self-sufficient, and did not use). At night we were aware of far-away road traffic ‘hum’, but it wasn’t too bad. However, the fact the site is so very close to the sea front, and the flat prom, is its saving grace. If you’re content with no view, and being close to your neighbour, but to be just a very short stroll to the beach, this site is perfect. We will return for its location alone. Sadly, the stroll along the prom is ruined by anti-social doggy owners who do not pick up their beloved pet’s faeces. Disgusting! Also folk who could not care less about the environment, and just drop their empty beer/cider cans and plastic bottles and other litter. This is obviously not a reflection of the site. Also it’s not the site’s fault that some dogs are noisy or yappy and spoil the peace of the site.
