Why stay here ...
Escape to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Smedmore House Club Site includes part of the World Heritage Coastline, famous for its scenic beauty. The caravan park itself is an open, partially sloping field surrounded by farmland with great views to the sea and Clavell Tower on one side and the Purbeck Hills on the other. Kimmeridge Bay, which is also part of the Smedmore Estate, is famous for fossils, fascinating geological strata and ecologically diverse rock pools. The Etches Collection Museum of Jurassic Marine Life is a brand new multi million pound immersive museum in Kimmeridge opened in October 2016.
One of our many caravan sites in Dorset, Smedmore House Club Site gives you easy access to fun water sport activities - there is windsurfing and diving on the ledges and a slipway for boats alongside the Dorset Wildlife Trust's fine marine centre. Many people stay at the caravan site for its walking opportunities since the unforgettable Dorset Coastal Path starts nearby. For the avid explorer there is the wartime abandoned village of Tyneham, located on Ministry of Defence land (limited opening times). The distant tank fire that can be heard on the ranges during a north westerly wind is virtually the only intrusion to this otherwise peaceful oasis.

From the North on the A351: on approaching Corfe Castle, at foot of Castle Hill turn right opposite Castle View NT information centre and car park (signposted Church Knowle, Kimmeridge); in 3.25 miles (1.5 mile past Church Knowle) turn left at the signpost to Kimmeridge; in about 1 mile on the outskirts of Kimmeridge turn left at the signpost to Smedmore House; in 0.5 mile at the house on left, turn right at the signpost to site. Fantastic site
Smedmore House Caravan Club SiteReview your terms and conditions
Smedmore House Caravan Club SiteIt should state in your terms and conditions that there may be a possibility of noise disturbance from weddings at Smedmore house, but it does not. Not even on booking are you informed of this, in fact on the club website it states the only disturbance to your peace and tranquillity will be the distant sounds of gun fire. Instead on arrival you are given a small snippet of paper stating “we are obliged to inform you there is a wedding this weekend and there may be some noise disturbance” what a cop out, for one thing , you are obliged to tell is this when we book. People having weddings at this venue at 10s of thousands of pounds do not book at the last minute but months if not years in advance so the information is available to you. Also do not tell me there may be some noise disturbance, there damn well will be. Appaling, inform people when they make there bookings so they can make an informed decision about their stay. Also when people are visiting other people on site, ensure they do not park their cars on peoples pitches. On arrival back to site after a walk to Kimmeridge the motorhome that had arrived next to us was so close to out pitch we spent the evening outside oir pitch 2inches away from their window due to how much they had encroached onto our pitch as the van next to them had two cars parked. Have some common sense. Wanted to return as first few days were great but now very much fought we will. Think we will go to the caravan and camping club site instead 🤷🏻♂️#
