Lovely site in a great location

This really is a great place. Very clean facilities, with lovely hot showers. Level pitches and very helpful people. Quiet peaceful surroundings, but with a pretty town and two large supermarkets only minutes away. Huntly even has its own castle - grand ruins telling the history of the Gordons in the town - and an idyllic walk along the river. This site is in a super location. It is convenient for visiting the Aberdeenshire coast, the Cairngorms, Inverness and is in the middle of the county's Castle Trail. A site that we'll definitely return to.

Peacefully surrounded by lovely River walks, ideal location for dog owners

Stayed June 2021 Upon arrival we followed covid rules and telephoned the reception mobile. Lady in reception was super helpful and gave excellent walks info and let me borrow her walking map. Great level pitches, huge sizes with electric hook up and many serviced pitches too. The site is kept nipping clean, showers were lovely temperature. The dogs loved all the walks and paddling in the river. The castle is a very short walk away but you can do a longer loop walk up into the town, back around the golf course and down to the castle. Loved it. The town has a great leisure facility with swimming pool, football fields, nordic centre and more. It has been hit by the lockdown but still had cute cafes & pubs. Chinese, Indian, Fish & chips and keebab shops. There is a tesco & asda just down the road. Obviously facilities are open but with social distancing rules in place. My only issue was other guests not following the safety covid rules & littering this beautiful town & parks. We had no issues with power. All areas were cleaned regularly. We will definitely return.

Poor power stability

Paid for a pitch with power but after 4 power cuts per evening ended up running fridge on gas. Site is lovely and well kept but best suited for young families. Unfortunately Huntly though is a bit limited on things to do. Treat as a hub and go touring around the area.

Definitely Not Club Standard

When I booked this site we had to pay up front and at that point we were allocated a pitch number. On arrival there was a telephone number on a board to phone. When I phoned the number the woman gave us a pitch number but it was NOT the pitch number I had been given on my booking form. I questioned this i was told they didn’t say I was getting that pitch.....so what is the point of putting it on the booking form! When we eventually found the replacement pitch we were stuck away down on a pitch with caravans either side of us and too say it was tight is an understatement . No way were we 6mtrs away from either of them. The pitch was the worst one they could give anyone, no sun,no space and certainly no privacy. Toilets were clean but dated, staff were non existent only saw two men wondering about to empty buckets and give the toilets a token clean. I did see a female on a bike but who she was I couldn’t say, never spoke or acknowledged you. For us we will not be back, I would seriously have to consider booking a club affiliated site... I don’t think I would. It left a bad taste in our mouth and NOT Club Standerd!

Great Location for Exploring Aberdeenshire

This was our first visit and we found the site to be excellent. There is a huge amount of space with three toilet blocks and four areas for outfits. Each area has its own play facilities in the middle of the area. The toilets were very clean and the COVID 19 arrangements were even better than the (good) ones we have experienced at directly managed Club sites. The site is within 10 minutes walk of the centre of Huntly and in the middle of an extensive piece of recreational land beside the River Dereron which includes more play facilities, excellent walks, a Nordic Ski Centre and Huntly Castle (open to the public through Historic Scotland). The site is immaculately maintained and the site staff were very helpful despite the distancing requirements of the COVID arrangements. Finally, the site is a great location to explore the Aberdeenshire Coast and countryside (with even more castles!) and the Speyside Whisky Trail.

No choice of pitch as pitch is allocated on payment .

Asked for change of pitch but told sorry none available as fully booked. Lovely dog walks but no dog bins .Toilets a bit dated ? All contact by phone no other contact.Pitch we had was.in the shade so was not impressed . Took full payment when booked was only supposed to be £25 deposit .No reduction in VAT payment . A bit greedy

Not Quite Up To Scratch

I spent two nights at Huntly, 3rd/4th August. While the pitch and site, in general, were reasonable it did not come up to Caravan Club standards in my opinion. The toilet blocks, in particular, were not up to standard being rather tatty and require refurbishment. The location however is pretty good, the site being adjacent to some pleasant countryside and riverside walks. Despite its negative points, it's still a site that's worth a visit, but don't expect Caravan Club standards.

Very poor. Will not return

I have been a caravan club member for a few years now and always rate their sites very highly - you know what to expect. Well not at Huntly Castle. Customer Service is by far the worst I have ever experienced on a Caravan Club site. I have a credit on my account that the site will not refund to me and refused to apply to my booking. The toilets are also the worst Ive seen on a club site. This is my first and last visit here. There are so many nice, clean, friendly sites around with excellent customer service. There is no need to visit this site. Avoid.

Excellent

Arrived huntly for one night. The standard to this site is amazing. The maintenance of the ground work. The shower and toilets are the best I’ve seen in a long time. The cleanliness was to a very high standard you noticed as soon as you walked in. Very friendly warden to greet us and show where everything was. Thanks so much to the wardens for their dedication it certainly shows.
