Never Say, Never Again.

My Wife and I have been coming to this site for eight years now, always for a full two weeks, usually start of June. Again this year, June 2022 paying £600 in advance of arrival, (we always pay for a super, fully serviced pitch and our favoured pitch always pre-booked). There is no doubt that this is a lovely site, situated in a lovely part of Scotland. We have always loved the site and have many fond memories but in recent times the park changed ownership and frankly, we just felt taken for granted. This year, on arrival (after a long three and a half hours drive from Ayrshire), we were greeted by a Warden (I understand to be Michael). Within the first 10 seconds I was advised twice to watch my speed (not sure what that was all about)? As is normal, we were escorted to our pitch. Now, we have a large twin axle caravan (only a year old) and when I arrive on any site, I am very particular, depending on my assessment of the pitch, I quickly decide when I reverse the caravan or use the “four wheel motor mover”, which I paid a great deal of money for. I stopped the car and got out (having decided that the Motor Mover was best option). Well, the Warden wanted to make a big issue and told me that I will reverse the caravan! I explained that I would use the MM but he then told me the new owner of the site doesn’t like the road being blocked? To cut a long story short, at this site previously, the warden would just leave you to get on with it, but the guy was wasting time being unreasonable and I told him to get back in his little Golf Buggy and let me get on with it! Not a good start to the holiday. I think this Warden needs some “people skills” training! During my stay, I saw other wardens quite relaxed about this but I also witnessed other customers being forced to reverse their caravans and you could see that they were having difficulties, in and out and still out of position? Another thing. In previous stays at the site, we always have Tesco deliver our groceries and the site were always okay allowing the delivery van to deliver to the pitch. Well not this year, apparently, you now have to meet the van down at the car park (New Site Owner Won’t Allow It), I was told. Not really a big problem and I didn’t take it personal, until the next day I saw two different supermarket vans racing about the site trying to find their customer’s pitch? So I assume they just don’t deliver to my pitch then?? All in all, my Wife and I decided it’s time for a change.

Fantastic site. We will be back

Our first time at the site. Really friendly welcome and lovely pitch with power, water and grey water disposal. Really quiet and peaceful site with great walks minutes away. Loads of dog friendly restaurants nearby and the town has loads of shops and cafes. Facilities are spotless, even in the morning before cleaning. Showers are piping hot. We had a great two day stay but will return for a longer stay to explore the area.

A great trip again

We have stayed at this site several times before and have always had a great experience. Once again the staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities were kept immaculate. We had quite a bit of snow during our stay and the wardens were out there keeping the site clear. Great walks in the area and good shops, with a good Coop nearby. Shame hardly any of the cafes are dog friendly for such a good walking area. Chaplins cafe is dog friendly. During our stay there were 3 very large caravans, with people who seemed to be more short term residents, rather than leisure reasons and despite the site rules, 2 of them had external gas bottles !!. We will return as the site is so nice otherwise. Would normally give top score.

Excellent friendly site

Was nice to be greeted by the same warden we met the same time last year and shown to our pitch. Was nice to chat and find he originates from just donw the road from us in Norfolk. He gave us some excellent information on a cycle route which suit us - nice and flat with lovely views. The site was well mainted and facilities first class with excellent hot shows - hardly met anyone in the shower block even though site quite busy. Suited us perfectly with small VW camper and perfect stop over for 2 days. Will definatley visit again in future

Lovely location for a holiday

We were greeted on arrival and personally shown to our pitch. We stayed on one of the fully serviced pitches which was excellent. The site was quiet and well maintained and the location couldn't be better if you have a dog. There are walks in the woods just a few minutes from the site. Grantown on Spey is only 0.5miles away with some lovely shops, and there are more woodland walks for the dog. Would highly recommend and we will be back

Very Much a commercial site

Be aware, although an affiliated site, I feel this is in name only! It is avery large and commercial site. It is clear the future focus of the owners is to expand the posh lodges. Sites quite tight together, and the trees/hedges are now very very tall and there is little view over the hills unless walk right to the top of the site where the new lodges are. All roads are tarmacced, which seems to make people drive quite fast, there are no humps/speed signs. The toilet blocks are clean and it's nice to shower without the damned push button showers in many club sites! There is no longer an information centre with lesflets; this may just be due to C19; but we were told simply to scan the QR code outside! Fine of you have/can use a smartphone! Overall a nice site, just don't expect to be like a club site.

Great base for exploring the Cairngorms

We stayed 3 nights in the school holiday time. This made the play park busy, but there is a rule to vacate the park at a reasonable time in the evening which makes everything peaceful at the important time. Not the place for you if you stay all day on site and want tranquil times. Facilities very clean and tidy and the large conifer hedge in front of us gave our little row of caravans a high level of privacy. So, although the site is quite large, it felt small. The enormous choice of things to see and do is the huge plus. Not a huge choice of eating places in Grantown itself, so important to make early bookings.

Few grumbles,

We have used this site for many years and it has grown tremendesly. Most things are very good, it is very clean everywhere. Two things that could do with some attention though, the massive conifer hedge in the middle of the site is awful and makes pitches close to it very dark. We use the top pitches which are very pricey now. When we first started going there years ago you had a great view of the Cromdales, now most of the view is obscured by this massive "hedge". Also the bank behind the top pitches is looking very overgrown. Also a bit concerned that we had e mails whilst touring Scotland prior to stopping at Grantown for the last week asking for full payment before we arrived on site and messages left on the home phone when we got home too! Apart from this it is a lovely site.

Mature Couple

Stayed here for 3 nights mid-May. Disappointed to not be given a pitch higher up at the back of the site as requested, but fortunately no children playing around the toliet block as we had feared. Some noisy neighbours. Very good site for walking directly from the site - marked trails in the woods to the south and north of the town, and a good path along a disused railway line. Easy drives to Loch Garten and Loch an Eilein - both very pretty to walk around.

Flying Stopover

We stayed in mid-May on our journey further North for one night. Site was clean, good size pitch, staff were helpful and the shower and toilets were clean. The only complaint was two sets of noisy neighbours behind us. One group talked loudly until well after mid-night whilst the others who were generally quiet thought it a good idea to drop bottles in the bottle bin at 11.30pm from what seemed a great height. We would use the site again but would perhaps request a quiet spot.
