November 2021 stay

Overhaul, excellent site, wonderful service, good location. The facilities are excellent. Only suggestion for making the maximum use of the serviced caravan pitch is make sure you have a tap to hose adapter for the fresh water to your caravan. First 13 touring pitches are built on platforms up a slight hill from reception to the amenities block. You can pre book the pitch so please bear in mind if you find reversing difficult or you haven’t got a motor over. There is a cafe on site for light snacks, there is a more extensive cafe at the caravan/motorhome sales centre. The site is just off a roundabout on a dual carriageway when we stopped here it was foggy two nights and there was slight road noise early in the morning but only if you were outside. Tv reception and the free Wi-fi were both excellent. Didn’t really use any of the sports facilities but they are of good quality as described. Fun watching people swimming in the natural pool wearing woolly hats. We are definitely returning next year.

Almost Perfect!

Stayed in the 2021 July as the Covid restrictions were lifted in England. This is an amazing site, with just a couple of niggles. The toilet block is the best I have ever come across. Yes there is a grate in the middle of the floor. Didn't bother me, I was too busy enjoying massive showers, free cleaning products, hairdryers fabulous, first class. The pitches are massive, divided by little hedges, fully serviced with individual sluices for toilet waste. Just so easy. Hardstanding which actually gives enough give to get the pegs in! Nice grass area behind each pitch. Security brilliant, location 5 miles to Shrewsbury, Aldi, Lidel, Sainsbury's etc etc all within 5 mins. Swimming pool, fabulous staff just really nice. So what are the niggles? This is not a quiet site, the road noise from our pitch on the top of the hill was very noticeable. Motor bikes racing every night of the 5 nights we were there. The final niggle is about pitch etiquette, and although the rules said no ball games or scooters, the management didn't follow through. On the upside, whole site quiet after 11. Great views from top of the hill and amazing landscaping like camping in a garden! So book your pitch, recommend the pitches round the edge where kids can't play football behind your van!

Don't believe the moaners..

What a fantastic site with fantastic facilities. everything spotlessly clean, loads to do onsite with Shrewsbury town 5 mins away for some shopping. Bit pricey but you get what you pay for i suppose, bonus was that we got a £10.00 voucher against our next stay (already booked for Nov 2020) I guess people would still moan if the refuse areas were located next to their pitch because of the smell. the reception area and the refuse area is only a short walk, or drive if you wish as there is a parking layby outside it. Can't wait to get back!

Worst facilities for visually impaired people I’ve encountered

We came home 3 days early from Love2stay. We just couldn’t take anymore of it. The only waste disposal area is opposite reception and is quite a trek from most pitches, so some people were just dumping their rubbish by the different dog poo bins dotted around. There’s just the one toilet block. You need a card to swipe in and to press a green button to go out. Everything in there is no-touch. You wave your hand in front of a sensor to flush the toilet. When washing your hands, the water flows from the tap when you put your hands under, and the temperature is adjusted by either waving your hand in front of a blue circle or a red one. Then you go and stick your hands in the Dyson hand drier. The showers work the same way as the sinks, except you turn them on by waving your hand in front of the on button. However, the shower drains are really badly positioned. They are outside the actual area where you’re showering, so when you go into the toilet block you’re stepping over puddles of water. The disabled toilet/shower room was the worst, for visually impaired people, I’ve come across on a campsite. First of all it isn’t even signposted. I had to scout around to find it. There’s a door that leads to the dishwashing area and laundry area, and the disabled shower room is in there. To get to it you need to swipe in to the first area, then use another card to swipe into the disabled area. Both doors require that you press a green button to leave. The first time my totally blind husband used the disabled toilet, he didn’t know that you had to press a button to get out, so he was frantically pulling on the door. Fortunately, I had the card in my hand and was able to swipe it to open the door from the outside. The room itself has the standard emergency pull cord and reset button. The reset button has Braille instructions on it, so that was a positive. The sink was a normal sink with taps that you turn on yourself, so my husband could use it. There is no hand drier in there, so I guess your hands just have to drip dry. The shower in there works exactly the same way as in the main area. So, they put Braille on a reset button but don’t provide a shower that a visually impaired person can use. How was my husband supposed to find the sensors that operated the shower and adjusted the temperature? I ended up standing in there with him, trying not to get wet, saying “up a bit, down a bit, right a bit...” as he’s waving his hand around, you get the picture! The shower drain in there was really slow and it wasn’t long until there was a pool of water on the floor. I tried using the sweeper thing they provide to get the water down the drain, but that didn’t work. We did tell them at reception why we were leaving early and they refunded the nights that we are not staying. We won’t be going back. Today was the day that we were due to check out and I received an email asking for the money that was refunded, back. I’m even less impressed now.

July - Aug 2020

Hopefully the caravan club will not rubber stamp this site. Although the facilities are modern and the place looks new it didn't tick our boxes . We knew it would be a very differenet holiday this year, but we can say this site is all about grabbing money! They want you to use all of the onsite facilities, however NOT alot of social distancing was taking place. It felt like we weren't in a bubble. The pool was a band only scenario however each sessions band was the same colour as the next and previous. When staff were told by some people they wouldn't move, because they hadn't booked they were left in place and not challenged to vacate. They had a booking system in place but most of the time it wasn't adhered to. A lot of vans had visitors so not sure how the track and trace would have worked??? The speeding on the site was horrendous and I predict a serious accident if it's not taken into hand. After we were overtaken by a vehicle right outside reception, my husband made a complaint to the night manager who said "it was down to the visitors to police speeding vehicles onsite". My husband suggested speed ramps be placed throughout the site, but this does't look like its going to happen soon. Even the site cars (fiat 500's) with sign writing on didn't stick to the 5mph limits. We needed a new gas bottle and the caravan dealership right next door had a cage full but not for the guests on site to buy (only if you purchased a caravan ) but when it was pointed out that they were part of the same business group we were told to go else where. This is the most expensive site that we have ever stayed on, £838 for 13 nights. we would not recommend this site to our friends or fellow club members. For reference: Any activity booked has a none refundable £35 charge of which we were never told when booking. We found out the hard way when we asked to cancel a booking 24hrs before the event. Taking money is the priority here, not the the enjoyment and safety of the guests

Could be so much better but missing the mark

I’m sure that when the weather is warm and the evenings long, this site is great for young families but midweek out of season, it just isn’t worth the money. There are many positive features- the pitches are spacious, level and will have additional privacy once the hedges mature. The facilities are clean and the whole site looks well maintained. There is a gym onsite and a lovely little “spa” which offered reasonably priced treatments, provided by Meghan who was excellent. The heated children’s splash pool and beach look good fun and the coffee was good in the cafe. There is also a bus-stop close by which operates until about 5.30pm into Shrewsbury. BUT the sanitary facilities offer style over substance and there is a general lack of information regarding what is available on a wet Tuesday for your £42/ night! The showers are huge, which I am sure is useful if you have small children, but they have only 1 clothes hook and unless you want to use the complimentary shampoo/conditioner in one, you have to put your own toiletries on the floor. The shower block was also rather cold which didn’t encourage me to linger and the water, as previously mentioned is only lukewarm. There is a freshwater pool which would have been inviting if heated, but at this time of year it recommended wearing a wetsuit, which unfortunately, I had forgotten to pack (!) There is a general lack of information about the use and availability of facilities. There are hot tubs, a cinema and a gym, but they don’t seem to be proactive in promoting these. I had assumed that both the cinema and tubs were out of use at this time of year until we were due to leave. Apparently all the information is available online, which is fine as I am rarely parted from my iPad, but unless you are directed to this information, you tend to rely on the welcome leaflet which occupies itself with ensuring you “understand your pitch”. Also the bar/ cafe closed at 6pm which I can understand, as the site was almost deserted, but then surely the price should reflect this. We wanted to try the site, despite other reviews, but it just misses the mark on so many counts and I’m sure if these were addressed, it would be a more attractive proposition for those of us without young families, wanting something a bit extra out of season. Now enjoying a very satisfactory CL site in Worcestershire!

Love2Stay Not again

Visited the site for the first time at the weekend. Such a shame that a brand new site built from scratch and by a caravan and motorhome specialist can get so much wrong. The site is very much aimed at families First observation was the signage and arrival place, when we arrived the pull in had two cars parked on the late night arrivals area so we pulled up, I walked to the reception (not much fun on a winters day or in a storm) checked in quick and friendly service but I didn't know you needed £5.00 cash for the access card, so had to walk back to motorhome to get some cash from hubby. A car and caravan had pulled up to barrier prior to check in so blocked the entrance, someone came behind them in a car and kindly opened the barrier only for them to drive in and park outside of reception blocking the road. The toilets are very nice and clean and new but who designed the showers and put the grid in the middle of the drying are? All weekend the floor outside the showers was flooded. Saturday morning I went for my shower no problem until I had finished, the one and only squeegee was broken so no way of cleaning the shower after use, also 5 people waiting for a shower when I came out. The café area is nice enough, we had a meal there Friday evening but I would imagine during the summer it would be bedlam with children in and out. The information sheet we were given said that children should be supervised after 10pm? What about the rest of the time, surely your children should be supervised at all time, we witnessed a young boy riding round the site on a go cart which is very dangerous as he was virtually lying on the ground, making it difficult for people to see him, also as he was riding the wrong way round the site. Putting the waste bins at the bottom of the hill opposite reception is also a strange choice, surely they could have put bins around site and paid someone to empty them? Doesn't seem a very disabled friendly site yes the doors open automatically and access is level but I watched a gentleman on sticks walking from his pitch to the facilities block and though that is not ideal The motorhome service point is again not thought out, why put covers over the drains that then have to be lifted off with your van positioned over them, surely an open steel grid system is so much easier and avoids the missing of the hole, I understand why old sites don't want to pay to convert but a new site should have planned this better For the price they are charging I would expect everything to be perfect, I'm afraid it is not, toilets out of order, sinks out of order, hooks missing from showers, Don't think we will be paying for this one again, loved Shrewsbury town centre so will be trying one of the Morris Leisure sites or the adults only site again

In our opinion, an amazing family friendly site!!

We stayed for 4 nights during the February 2019 half term and had an amazing time. The site has been so thoughtfully designed it made the stay so easy and relaxing, small grumble that ALL of the landfill and recycling bins are at the entrance but it made you be organised and keep taking small trips. The serviced pitches are fantastic and the space is a huge bonus, everything was very clean. The toilet cassette cleaning machine is great, dare I say a little bit expensive at £4 a clean, but if you use it early on you can then empty it down the black waste at the pitch's service point providing you have green chemicals to refill afterwards. The playground was very popular with the children. The pizza's were gorgeous and 2 pizza provided plenty of food for 2 adults and 2 children. There was a bit of a wait but that's to be expected when they are made by hand to order, worth the wait. All of the restaurant staff were very helpful and polite. Reception staff were equally polite even when there was a queue of people to deal with. Booking of activities was vague, everything is online which is a disappointment because when we are away we try to avoid going online for everything. Leaflets on arrival like the Spa treatments would have been helpful. The Hot Springs pool was great, who'd have thought you would be swimming outside in February - a refreshing change and the hot tubs were a welcome treat afterwards! Overall a fantastic site, yes a little bit expensive but very well designed with great facilities we will be staying again.

Overvaluing its status and service

This caravan site has excellent facilities comparable with the best of Caravan & Motorhome Club sites. The toilets & showers are spotless, excellent washing up & laundry rooms and waste disposal point. Minor criticism is that the water temperature in the showers could do with being a little bit higher. The hard standing caravan pitches are level & spacious with electric hook up, water point and grey waste drains. The grounds are immaculate & well maintained. There are a multitude of activities taking place, the majority of which are at additional cost. However there is an outdoor pool, hot tubs and a fabulous children's play area for which there is no charge. The reception is functional, but I agree with other reviewers the staff are not the most friendly & helpful I have met. The cafe & pizza parlour are functional and reasonably priced. The reason I have given an average rating is nothing to do with facilities, it is in my opinion, not value for money. We stayed for five nights during October half term with our three grandchildren who absolutely loved the place. However the cost - £42.00 per night!!! - we stayed in February half term for five nights at a cost of £25.00 per night. On enquiring why the huge increase in price I was told that it was because of the new "Hot Springs" feature. This was not open during our stay, so no justification whatsoever. Even allowing for "Hot Springs" that in itself cannot be justification for nearly a 70% price increase!!!!! Overall fabulous site but certainly overpriced compared to other similarly excellent sites we have stayed on.
