A pleasant and charismatic site

Stayed once before in 2019, but was in early Winter, so we decided to return in warmer times. As is with other Morris sites, Stanmore has excellent facilities, well tended pitches, a good shop and looked after greenery. The staff were very helpful and cheerful, offering help when necessary. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed both time at the site and away from it. The site was mostly quiet and we enjoyed time sitting outside the MH until the early evening, helped by the fact the sun was out and it was warm. On the days we were there, we tried the Pizza one night as well as the Gin Bar, both were very enjoyable, especially in the area overlooking the onsite lake. Off site, we went for a couple of walks around Comer Woods, and Stanmore Hall Woods, and also took the walk down to the Danery, a very pleasant pub. Took a trip into Bridgnorth and went up the Cliff Railway to the High Town, and again enjoyed a mooch around the town enjoying lunch in one of the many cafes. The only small thing that wasn't resolved whilst we were there was the wifi, it never worked for the 4 days we were there. The staff had tried to get it sorted without any luck, so couldn't watch any streaming services in the evenings

A stay here provides an experience that gives a strong sense of wellbeing

Tranquil. Peaceful. A stay here provides an experience that gives a strong sense of wellbeing. The natural world is right here in abundance, before rushing out ... take the time to enjoy the site, the setting that's been created and the wildlife that actually wants to interact with (courteous) humans. The team running the site are really nice people and want to help guests. Other people have already said everything about the shop and facilities. I agree with them. It could be considered 'pricey' to stay here than other places, but on reflection, it was well worth it.

Second Visit

This was our second visit to Stanmore and again it was a pleasure. We didn't take our bikes this time so got the local bus into Bridgnorth a lovely town, with lots of great tea rooms. We also walked to The Dannery pub which is about a mile away down hill, the walk back up burns off the calories consumed in the pub or so I tell myself! The locals and staff were very welcoming. The food here is good, as well as the lovely hand pulled ale! Again the wardens were pleasant, chatty and very helpful and do a great job at keeping the site maintained to an excellent standard. A great weekend all round.

Perfect week away!

We have just spent a perfect week away here, it was our first visit but I'm sure that we'll be back. The site and facilities are very well kept and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Bridgnorth and the surrounding area are well worth the trip.

Solo serenity

Perfect 3 night stay with my dogs. Facilities immaculately clean and park beautifully kept. Wardens especially helpful as travelling solo with motormover broken. Lovely little country park adjacent, in which dogs and I enjoyed the last of the warm autumn sunshine. Will definitely be back.

A nice short stay

We had a good three day break on this site. The wardens and reception staff are incredibly friendly, the pitches are well laid out and a good size. We pitched on no 14, and we could hear the road noise, but we do live in a quiet rural area. We also had a noisy neighbour, who came in late two nights and the motor vehicle was quite loud. We visited Bridgnorth which is lovely, the Castle gardens and Severn railway, we hopped off at Bewdly and found the shopping there cheaper than Bridgnorth. A taxi from site to Bridgnorth is £6.00 it’s walkable (1,2 miles) but along a busy road with narrow pavement. A nice short stay. Thank you

A very good site.

Stayed two nights late July 2021, just myself in my short (5.4m) van conversion motor caravan. I cannot speak too highly of the reception/shop staff who were friendly, cheerful and went the extra mile to help me change my booking at the last minute after a booking error on my part. The site shop is very well stocked with a surprisingly wide range of groceries and confectionary as well as caravan and camping bits and pieces. During this Covid Summer I've been using the shower, toilet and kitchen in my van rather than site facilities, but did have a peek at what's available and they were very clean, including a veg preparation and washing up room. The site boasts a really attractive large central pond and also first class waste and water points. The chemical disposal points are almost identical to those on CC sites, but improved by having a long rinse hose hanging from above the centre of the disposal points. They really work well and would be a useful enhancement to Club sites. I was on a hardstanding pitch which was spacious and in good shape with a full 16 amp power supply. By happy chance the slope of the pitch exactly compensated for the way that my Fiat Ducato van sits high on its back wheels ... of course, not so good for vans which are move level! The site is next to a busy road and there is background traffic noise during the day on those part of the site adjacent to the road.. Not enough to disturb sleep at night with the van doors shut. I was in the general area, and quite near to the road, so there was plenty of noise from kids and some from traffic, but neither of these were disturbing. Walking round the site I was impressed by the landscaping and especially by the adults only area which seemed a lot quieter, and had a bit more of a mellow feel. Main purpose of staying there was to visit the RAF Museum at Cosford, about thirty minutes away. If you're interested in planes or aviation it's well worth a visit. (Watch out for satnav routes which can take you down some seriously narrow lanes. Better to use a map and follow signs,) Overall a a very good site which I'd definitely visit again if a trip took me to that area.

Beware of seasonal pitch owners

I’m not actually sure you can request a specific pitch but we ended up on no. 31 which I have to say was great. My brother and his wife were not so fortunate and ended up being placed between two seasonal pitch owners (pitch 101) who think they own the place and made us feel very unwelcome. Everyone else including the wardens were lovely as is the site. Beautifully clean facilities but like others have said. Really does need two loo blocks especially as they close for an hour and a half for cleaning. Will certainly be back.

Pitch allocation a lottery as they are not all 5*!

Yes - a friendly welcome! Yes - a picturesque site! Yes - clean, hot showers! However, it depends which pitch you are given as to whether it would be classed as 5*! Our pitch (93) certainly wasn't 5*! It is a grass pitch in the adult only section and is in the shade, so the grass is uneven and full of bare patches which became muddy when it rained. There should definitely be more hardstanding pitches in the adult only area. Then, as he was pitching our caravan, my husband started finding pieces of broken glass at the back of the van. He informed the site staff and the rest of the glass was removed, but it shouldn't have been there in the first place! The pitch is also near a busy road with lots of traffic noise. I also feel that there should be 2 facility blocks for a site of this size and each couple should be given 2 security fobs. I am glad that we had the VAT reduction as I wouldn't have liked to have paid full price with Morris Leisure sites not being cheap!

Super Site in Shropshire

I can only repeat what so many other reviews have mentioned, beautiful location, super friendly wardens, immaculate facilities. So why only four stars? We had pitch 79 in the adults only area and we felt "fenced in" and isolated by tall hedgerow on 3.5 sides leaving an 8ft wide gap with which to enter and vacate the pitch as our only contact with human life. Would be perfect if the front facing hedgerow was trimmed to about half its current height. We would definitely return and recommend the site but not this particular pitch
