Lovely two weeks in June

We stayed for two weeks in June. It is a lovely site, with a good layout, clean and tidy facilities, helpful wardens, handy on-site shop and on-lead dog walking area. The village of Lydford is pretty, we stopped at the Castle Inn for drinks in the garden and separately for Saturday lunch (we did pre-book to be able to sit in the bar with our puppy), on one of our circular walks we stopped for a sundowner G&T at Lydford House, on another day we called in for a drink at the Dartmoor Inn. The Lydford Farm Shop was handy for fresh produce and their bacon was very tasty. We enjoyed a number of circular walks out from the site into Lydford village via the green lanes, the National Trust Lydford Gorge, across to Fernworthy down and return via the Granite Way. A short car journey away we walked at Lydford Forest and Meldon Reservoir, further afield we enjoyed Denham Wood, Fingle Bridge and the National Trust Cotehele. We would recommend the site, and hope to stay again when visiting the local area.
