A classic medieval walled town, Conwy is at the head of the Conwy Valley and gateway to the Snowdonia National Park.
Dominated by its castle, the town is within the three quarter mile network of the castle walls, with no less than 22 towers guarding the town. The fortress and town have remained intact over the years, with narrow streets and historic properties dotted throughout.
Conwy's two oldest residential buildings are Plas Mawr and Aberconwy House. The former is a medieval merchant's house dating from the 14th century, while Aberconwy House is one of Britain's best preserved Elizabethan houses.
The Conwy Valley stretches from the foothills of Snowdon to the coast with fertile pastures, gorges and waterfalls. It is a fantastic area for walking. The high peaks of the Snowdonia National Park dominate the skyline over Conwy, making the town a great base for exploring the great countryside nearby.
