Positives The site is well located close to Penrith and Keswick It has fully serviced flat pitches, although whoever designed the drainage outlets to the fully serviced pitches along the left hand side needs a new spirit level as the outlet is above the hardstanding and is close to the level of the caravan outlet. There is no view from the serviced pitches, so if you want to enjoy the view go for electric hook up only. Good access to many walking trails through the dog walk area. The site is maintained to an adequate standard as all sites we visit are currently, so nothing exceptional there. Negatives We have spent 4 weeks touring various sites from Adult Only Tranquil Parks, Camping and Caravan Club and Cl Sites. Troutbeck is by far the most expensive for nothing extra (ok C&C Club was not a fully serviced pitch but £16 cheaper per night), and we have found this site the least welcoming in all the sites we have visited over the years of caravaning. I will not be coming back. And yes I did check the cost before booking but since I placed my booking the costs increased. If you want peace and quiet come here it’s so quiet you wont even be bothered by the site team, in fact when you are trying to find them its almost impossible, not just ourselves but other folks on site have found this also. As an example, went to get tokens for the laundry - I don’t know why they can’t use coins like the vast majority of other sites we visit. Unfortunately we arrived at the office just after 10:00 a.m. to be told that the person who had the key to the office wasn't available - ok we were late. No offer to go and get the key just if we came back at 11:00 they would be there. Came back at 11:00 staff member said they hadn’t come back yet and when I explained even when they did come back the laundry block would then be closed for cleaning so we would not be able to use the laundry - for some reason they were unaware which block the laundry was in. Went back at 12:00 - all cleaning was completed - but the staff had all gone off site for lunch note left to say they would be back at 12:50. Another person waiting at reception said they had tried ringing the door bell which states if the office is locked press (hard) and someone would attend - no one did, they had also tried ringing the mobile number left and no answer. Went back at 1:00 and finally got the tokens, others just arriving on site were complaining how long it took to get registered with only 1 person on duty.
