Why stay here ...

Abbey Wood Club Campsite feels positively rural when you reach this gently sloping verdant site. Its mature tree screening and spacious grounds make this a 'green oasis', with tent pitches and pods also available. This campsite's unique selling point is its location - there are shops and good railway connections - Abbey Wood Station is just a short walk away, meaning you can be in central London in around 20 minutes on the new Elizabeth Line. Alternatively, nearby Greenwich offers its own blend of fascinating attractions, including the famous observatory and National Maritime Museum.

Open to caravans, motorhomes and campers, the site caters for all tourers and is a great option for those seeking a city break. The site itself is ideal for families, with plenty facilities on-site to make your stay a comfortable one.

River cruises operate from nearby Abbey Wood Club Campsite between Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Westminster, Kew, Richmond and Hampton Court. Open all year, this is one of our busier London caravan sites, and is very popular with European visitors during the summer months. There are good reasons to visit Abbey Wood throughout the year though. The Christmas Lights, shopping at the January Sales, the London Marathon, Excel Centre and the Chelsea Flower show can all be enjoyed from this scenic, yet well placed, site.

Please note: this Club campsite is situated within the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) which means you may need to pay a fee based on your vehicle's emissions, age and weight. The best way to find out is to use the Transport for London Low Emission Zone Checker. To avoid any late payment penalties, it's best to set up an Auto Pay account before you travel and then the appropriate payment is taken automatically when you drive into the zone.

The Elizabeth Train line will open on Tuesday 24 May 2022, subject to final safety approvals. The line will operate in London as three separate railways, in the east, west and through central London. When the final stage is complete, customers will be able to travel seamlessly from Abbey Wood to Heathrow and Reading, and from Shenfield to Heathrow.

  • The central section opens, adding nine new stations to the TfL network (Bond Street will open to Elizabeth line customers soon).
  • Service will start with a train every 5 minutes running between Paddington and Abbey Wood from 06:30-23:00, Monday to Saturday.

Great site

Abbey Wood Club Campsite
Wonderful site with easy access from M25 junction 1, were towing a car and had no problem with route. Good size pitches although some are sloping. Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to underground station 22 minutes to Oxford Street, £6.00 return. Large car park by station with Free parking for Blue Badge holders. Site is secure with vehicle gate locked at 22.00, Pedestrian gate is open all night, with car park outside for late arrival and late returns. Only issue is the Foxes but do not leave things out and no problem. Will definitely return.

Lovely site

Abbey Wood Club Campsite
Amazing location for its peace and tranquility and proximity to London, the new Elizabeth line is just a 10 minute walk from the site direct into the heart of the city, and even though we were there over the Platinum Jubilee weekend it was never crowded. We found the staff very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful, regrettable we didn’t take their advice, when we checked in they pointed out that the foxes were very naughty and advised not to leave anything out, pointing to a box of chewed shoes, we were smug, we’re ok everything was safe in the awning, big mistake, huge mistake, it transpires they can get in the smallest of gaps and sleep on chairs, we’ve scrubbed, pressure washed, dismantled and put the chairs into the washing machine, and still they smell so strong that we can’t use them, so make sure you take the wardens advice and don’t give them the chance

A Revelation

Abbey Wood Club Campsite
What a great site, now made even better with the opening of the Elizabeth line. The site itself is a lovely green space in an urban setting. The Wardens are lovely, they keep the place beautifully clean and tidy and nothing's too much trouble. Central London is now only about 25 minutes away on a clean, bright, spacious and quiet train. This is now the site to stay at in London. There are just a couple of downsides: firstly satellite reception is poor but they have aerial sockets on the power posts and secondly, Abbey Wood itself is a bit run down with one poor pub and one decent restaurant (the Taj Mahal). There’s a lot of building work going on, however, so give it a couple of years and I’m sure there’ll be more choice. I thoroughly recommend this site to you.

Don’t tell anyone

Abbey Wood Club Campsite
Don’t tell your friends about this site or they will want to go as well and there might not be space for us the next time we go back. This site is just lovely. An hour into London on the train and tube (£14.40 for a day ticket all over London) and loads of trains til midnight. We went for a Queens Garden Party and with all this COVID we just don’t like hotels any more. When we did the sums this is way cheaper. Trip from Manchester : about £120 in diesel, 2 nights £76, two days passes on the London Trains so all in bout £240 compared with £400 on the train and some dodgy Travel Inn or similar for another £200. I know which I prefer. The site is an oasis in big London, spotless, quiet, really nicely laid out, great wardens and so on. But don’t tell anybody, agreed ?
