Stunning views

Bioran Dubh Croft
We are just back from 4 nights at Bioran Dubh. The site is about a mile of the main Oban to Forth William road, along a public road with passing places and is easily found. Arrival is very much self service with a site board with instuctions - we never saw the site owner but that is no problem for us. The site is "snug" - we were i one of 3 front pitches with plenty room for the awning. the other two pitches looked pretty tight, fine for a MoHo or caravan but would be cramped with an awning. Views are absolultly to die for! and the site so so quiet! Port Appin is about a mile and 1/2 away and has a wells stocked shop, a lovely craft shop and 2 restaurants/pubs - easily walkable in about 30 minutes. The Old Inn in Appin is slightly closer but only seems to be open Thurs - Saturday. Easy access to touring the area with the car or on a bike.

Good site with amazing views

Bioran Dubh Croft
Had a delightful 3 night stay at this peaceful CL site with fantastic views when the weathers good. Basic site but everything you need is on hand. No welcome from the site owner but good information board available. Pitches are slightly sloping hardstandings which did take a bit to get the camper level however any little gripes are totally forgotten with those amazing views. Good location for visiting Glencoe and Oban. Will definitely be calling again.

Stunning views

Bioran Dubh Croft
The views are absolutely stunning , but be prepared for more than partly sloping hardstandings! A motorhome with self levelling rams while we were there had one tyre at least 4 inches off the ground. Very much self service - as with other reviews we saw no sign of the owner. Which is fine, except the recycling bin was overflowing. One tip - the wifi is excellent, but it took us a while to find the code (in the payment envelope box.) It does seem a bit overpriced, although to be fair not out of line with the seemingly soaring cost of CLs generally. And the view is to die for…

A Slice Of Scottish Heaven!

Bioran Dubh Croft
I first saw photos of this CL about two years ago but it has taken us until now to visit. I must confess, having read one of the previous reviews, I was a little nervous about what we were going to find. But all was good. Fabulous views for which am I am happy to pay £20 - it’s got to be preferable to looking at the back of another caravan on a club site. There are three drive on/ drive off type pitches one of which we used. It did slope a bit but we had no trouble getting level or erecting our awning. The remaining two pitches are a little more tricky to access being at the side of the CL. As others have mentioned, there was no sign of the owner - we didn’t see him at all during our stay. However all the information you need is available to read on arrival - payment envelopes are provided, info about the local area etc. WiFi worked well. Bins fo need some attention - recycling bin was overflowing whilst we were there. Easy walk along the lane towards Jubilee Bridge which then gives access to a disused but surfaced multi use railway line. It’s about a mile and a bit walk to Port Appin - village shop/ post office plus a couple of hotels and a gift shop. All in all, a lovely CL, would definitely revisit.

FANTASTIC- Just how a CL should be

Bioran Dubh Croft
Great site with the most amazing views of Castle Stalker. Great access to the cycle route 78 which has to be one of the most scenic cycle routes in the country. It is so nice to go to an unspoilt CL which isn't perfectly manicured and tidy .(how CL's used to be ) and whilst the owner did not meet you, there was adequate information upon arrival and the bins were frequently emptied. We ate at the Pierhouse hotel one evening , fantastic seafood restaurant.Cannot recommend enough and we will be back. Loads to do and see in the area.
