An ideal location for a relaxing holiday, Garlieston Club Campsite is both peaceful and picturesque. Divided into two sections for choice of comfort, one section of the caravan park offers beautiful views overlooking the bay, while the other provides a far more secluded and sheltered space for those who enjoy extra privacy and quiet. All non-awning pitches and a limited number of awning pitches are located in the part overlooking the bay, while all pitches in the walled area accommodate awnings.
Garlieston Club Campsite gives you easy access to the rural charms of Garlieston village, geared towards farming and leisure. Many of the attractive cottages in the crescents that wrap around the bay are holiday homes, and pleasure craft now share the harbour with a few fishing boats. The caravan site is well located for fishing, boating, cycling and walking, with adjacent access to a coastal path leading to the famed azaleas and rhododendrons of Galloway House Gardens. The sandy beach at Rigg Bay, where wartime Mulberry Harbours were tested, is an excellent place to spend a summer day. If you're happy to venture further afield, The Galloway Forest Park offers 300 square miles of beautiful moorland, lochs and mountain tops to explore.

Directions
From A75 (Dumfries - Stranraer). In about 8 miles in Crocketford keep left on A75; do not turn right onto A712. In Newton Stewart turn left onto A714. In about 5 miles on outskirts of Wigtown turn right onto B7005 (signposted Whithorn, Garlieston, B7004). In 1.75 miles continue onto A746 (Whithorn). In about 2.5 miles (0.5 mile past Kirkinner) fork left into a short one-way system onto B7004. Within 4 miles at T-junction turn left (signposted Garlieston). Within 0.25 miles at seafront turn right. The Site office is on the left by harbour. Please note that there is no Late Night Arrival area.

Perhaps a new favourite CMC Site?
Garlieston Club Campsite
It would be difficult to find a more idyllic location for a campsite right on the harbourside in a Scottish village? The site is split into two sections, one next to the harbour and another smaller part in a walled garden just across the road, this was where we pitched. The site has two toilet blocks, both of which are of the older variety. Garlieston has a very interesting history which is set out on boards by the Village Hall. Not least the part it played in the development of the Mulberry Harbour used in Normandy in WW2. There is a friendly pub in the village where you can have a beer or a coffee. They do meals as well but probably worth thinking about booking as it seems popular. The only shop for food basics is as you enter the village in the garage (which only sells diesel fuel). There is a fairly regular bus service from the village to Wigtown and Newton Stewart and also further south from Garlieston.

Good TV signal and WiFi reasonable. Nice Pub within two minutes walk and plenty to do in the area with some wonderful walks.

Our third visit
Garlieston Club Campsite
We stayed at this site from 19/3/22 for 7 nights, sited in the walled garden area which we prefer. It was a great stay as usual. Everything clean and nice and well cared for by the friendly wardens. We were blessed with a week of sunshine. The site is great for walks out around the bay, in both directions, walking shoes/boots needed for some of the paths at this time of year. We are interested in the history of Garlieston and it’s connection with trialling the mulberry harbour. Having already walked to Rigg Bay a few times we also walked around towards Eggleston point to see the remains that are situated there on the rocky beach. We travelled out to Port Logan, Portpatrick, and Wigtown which are all worth visiting.
This site is a gem of tranquility in a small village, with great beaches on the doorstep,maybe not too well suited for children as there isn’t a play area but if they love the outdoors then this is the place. Great for dog walking too. We’ll e back again,
1st Visit to this site
Garlieston Club Campsite
We stayed here from 11th to 20th March. Wonderful site with great views, peace and quiet. We moved to the walled side of the site and had a lovely sunny pitch(when the sun eventually came out!). The wardens were very friendly and helpful with their knowledge of the local area. There are plenty of places to visit and lovely walks from the site. All of the facilities were spotlessly clean as you'd expect. The biggest disappointment yet again is the amount of members that don't seem to be able to keep their cars in1st gear and stick to the speed limit, this is not hard to do as the majority of us do manage it how is it so hard to do? Or is it just a blatant disregard of the rules?! We loved this site and hope to visit again in the not so distant future, as many more places we'd like to visit. Keep up the good work.
