Greetham Retreat CL was constructed and then opened, by the owners Rob and Jeanette Folwell in 2010, it's a tranquil site, set in over 4 acres of natural private parkland grounds that includes areas of woodland, wildlife ponds, wildflower meadows with mown pathways along with several seating areas taking advantage of the panoramic views across the surroundig open countryside of the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The grounds attract much wildlife throughout the year.

Greetham Retreat CL site

Everyone is welcome, especially pets. We have five spacious level hardstanding pitches and one grass pitch; they are terraced across a slight incline and have 16 amp electric hook-ups with space for an awning and car parking also on the hardstanding along with a good access roadway. A quality private shower and WC facility is also provided for guests to use when staying on our CL site.

Things to do...

Greetham Retreat is ideally located for exploring the area, being about 3 miles from the market town of Horncastle famous for its antique shops. We are about half way between the historic Cathedral City of Lincoln and the wide sandy beaches of the East Coast and resorts like Skegness, Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe all within easy reach. We are close to several aviation heritage museums, including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and various nature reserves like Snipe Dales and Gibraltar Point for those who enjoy wildlife or bird watching. Caldwell Park for motorsports and Market Rasen racecourse are also nearby.

The Lincolnshire Wolds are ideal for those who enjoy walking or cycling. There is plenty to do in the area to keep everyone occupied and with several other attractive market towns also nearby like Boston, Louth, Spilsby and Woodhall Spa to explore. Or just enjoy our beautiful site and take a stroll around the grounds where you can just relax and unwind from the stresses of daily life.

Lovely peaceful break

Greetham Retreat CL
Lovely well kept site. Easy access from main A road. Access to site very clear and plenty of room to gain entry. Wifi available. Plenty of space between pitches that are nice and flat. Toilet/shower immaculate. Owner welcomed us and informed us where everything was. Information room, Washing machine facilities. Great countryside views. Will definitely return.

Fabulous owners, beautiful location

Greetham Retreat CL
The site is very well kept & facilities are spotless. Very friendly helpful owners, without being intrusive. We needed a part for our caravan and they kindly allowed us to have it delivered to site & it was waiting for us on our caravan step when we got back from a day out. Lots of places to visit, driving around here is a dream, with stunning scenery. Nearby Anderby Creek is a fabulous beach for dog walking (30 min drive) We visited Doddington Hall too which was lovely. We also had a drive out to Donna Nook to see the seals, although dogs aren’t allowed on the beach there is a field to walk the dog around with portaloos and farmers selling beautiful freshly picked vegetables. Woodhall Spa is worth a visit. We’ll definitely visit again as there’s so much to see and do around the area. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Best CL

Greetham Retreat CL
We have visited Greetham several times as it is such a lovely site. Spotlessly clean with well defined pitches. Beautifully kept dog walk, all the facilities nearby. The shower and loo are high standard- appreciate the red light to indicate it’s occupied- brilliant idea. Rob is very welcoming and is a wealth of information about the area. He’s there when you need him and we often see him tending the grounds. Previous review that mentions parking on grass- there’s plenty of room on the pitch so no need to be on the grass. Rob works hard to maintain standards so can totally understand not wanting cars on the grass- the description of Rob is not correct as he’s a very nice chap so take that review with a pinch of salt, Horncastle with a Tesco and Co Op is about 10 mins drive. We visited Snipe Dale Country park, Ostlers plantation( old buildings from RAF Woodhall Spa still standing in the trees) and the donkey sanctuary at Radcliffe is always a nice visit- have breakfast at Farmer Browns first- great value for money. Skegness is not far but not really our thing. The site is peaceful and lots of owls hooting at night. Definitely one of our fave sites. Booking etc is easy. Free WiFi is a lovely bonus.

Amazing site, welcome, location & owners

Greetham Retreat CL
Our first stop at this site and it certainly won’t be the last we could not find anything negative about our lovely holiday staying at Greetham Retreat. We had a lovely friendly & informative welcome from the owners Rob & Jeanette, nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay. The pitches are perfect and extremely well maintained and have lovely views overlooking the Wolds. Extremely clean facilities with ample cleaning & Covid precautions at all times. It’s location for exploring the wonderful Lincolnshire Wolds and the use of many public footpaths close by is excellent. We had many a wonderful evening watching the sunsets whilst enjoying a glass or two of wine sat by the little lake watching all the wildlife also enjoying the facilities, which included listening to the resident Barn Owl which was a delight. This is a CL site that is definitely worth a visit or two and is one of the best sites we have ever had the pleasure of staying on. I really don’t believe anyone could find fault with this site for anything it was a truly lovely and memorable holiday so thank you so much Rob & Jeanette. Clive & Lynda

Mixed review.

Greetham Retreat CL

We originally booked this CL for 2 stays this summer . I booked early in the year and was charged £80 deposit, £40 for each stay. In April I emailed to say we would no longer be able to make the end of June booking and asked if the £40 deposit on that booking could be moved over to the Aug booking providing they could re let our pitch . I had an immediate reply saying absolutely not -- no refund of deposits under any circumstances for any reason as they had already lost too much due to covid ( or words to that effect) and basically we lost £40 even though they immediately re booked the pitch ( i checked ). Had they not been able to re book it we would of course have under stood their rule but its a very popular CL with rarely a vacant pitch ( they also have several holiday cottages on site its quite a big concern) We arrived for our August stay and the positives are the site is lovely and has a great dog walking area. The negatives sadly are the site owner and his attitude. Over our stay we heard him talk down ( and shout ) at 2 different elderly people who dared to park on or almost on his grass even though a dry day and zero damage done . We felt worried all through our stay as his verbal list of do's and don'ts re exercising our dog or parking just made us uncomfortable every time we saw him . He seemed to enjoy the power he had as site owner . The site is however in a lovely area and handy for us but we wont return im afraid.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for you review. The CL owners have been in touch to clear up any misunderstanding as they always do their utmost to ensure guests have the best time with them and help members staying with them. They were sorry to hear that you had cancelled your stay with them in April as you had booked another holiday but hope you had a great time.

The CL Site asks for non-refundable and non-transferable deposits for all advanced pitch bookings, which they make every guest fully aware of when initially booking and paying deposits. The reason they take deposits is the high number of cancellations and no shows, that they have previously suffered when not taking deposits. When a cancellation occurs, it is not just about selling the pitch again, there is a cost involved for the CL Site to carry out everything required to process your initial booking, then deal with the cancellation, remarketing, and hopefully selling the pitch again. The paperwork and administration involved is quite significant and time consuming. However, please be assured they do consider each cancellation on its individual merits and take account of the circumstance.

With regards to your comment about the CL Site being 'a big concern', they would like to reassure this is not the case. They are a husband and wife team who do everything to maintain, run and clean the holiday cottages, CL Site, the grounds, the website, and all the administration involved. They are also available and on call for guests 24/7 all year round and do their utmost to ensure guests have the best possible time when staying with them. They do not have staff and take great pride in offering a quality product at a reasonable price in a professional manner.

Please be assured the other guests you mentioned were not threatened and were only being advised on where best to pitch. They had a friendly conversation to help the guests pitch correctly and these guests told the CL owners at the end of their stay that they had a lovely holiday and are arranging to come back again very soon.
