Why stay here ...

This rural site is just 200m from the spectacular setting of the Morbihan Gulf and, although it gets busy in high season, retains a laid-back, relaxing feel. It is kept clean and tidy by the owners, with spotless facilities and a good outdoor pool with water slide. One set of pitches is on open ground and separated by hedges, while the other is in a more wooded area providing shade in summer.

The Gulf waters are ideal for younger children, being sheltered and calm, with gentle slopes into the water. Canoes are also available to hire onsite for use in the sea.

The coast offers some spectacular walks, and boat trips are available for those wishing to visit the islands. Nearby Vannes is well worth a visit, while the standing stones of Carnac can be reached in around 35 minutes.

July 2019 - full and honest review

Penboch
I wanted to leave a review after reading so many contrasting ones about this site. We are a family of 5, 2 adults, a 7 and two five year olds. We decided to pitch in the tree covered area to the right of the site to get shade as it was so hot when we arrived it was a good size pitch and pleasant, mainly tents in this area. You need to make sure you have a long electric cable 25m ideally for some pitches. The main pitch area did seem very cramped and little shade and I’m glad we asked to move it suited us better. I think you could do with a motor mover in the main area. The staff and reception area are very good. The bar is basic, hot and cold drinks and ice creams. There is no food offered except takeaway vans that come every night 5-10pm offering food such as roast chickens, pizza and curry on one night we didn’t use them. The pool is good area, there is indoor and outdoor pools, slides which are quite good, and a toddler area open 10-7 each day. The toilets and showers in our pitch area were not spotless but they were clean and always had paper available. There are a few cracks in the walls and plenty of cobwebs about but the parts you are actually using are clean. They have WiFi but it’s to pay for and only available for one devise unless you buy a family package. We didn’t bother so didn’t notice the price. There is a football/basket ball pitch which makes the site noisy until 11pm when the lights go out and there are many French guys playing boules until late as well so lively but interesting in the evening. There is also a playground suitable for up to about 10-11 years and ping pong tables. There is a bouncy castle but it’s in a covered area which makes it as hot as hell if it’s anything over 22 degrees! The walk to the beach is only about 3 minutes and it’s a lovely shore line beach accommodating maybe only 40-50 people when the tide is out, there is a toilet and shower but is very basic. It’s a lovely place to spend the day or especially evening after dinner, lots of the locals come down for a swim late on. We really enjoyed our stay and I would consider going back mainly due to the tree covered pitch, the beach and the slides for the kids. It’s also well placed for visiting Vannes and the coast line and it’s islands. If you want 5 star, spotless high functioning site with plenty of like minded British folk you are not going to get this here. P.S the reception closes 12.30-2.30 so don’t arrive then like most people seem to and sit and wait in their cars looking irritated.

Only managed 1 night of a 5 night stay

The site is rather run down. While the plots are reasonable size the site as a whole feels cramped. Toilet blocks, etc could do with a deep clean. We were attracted by the closeness to the beach but quite far to walk along a narrow path and a hassle to get our kayaks there. We weren’t very impressed with the small beach area. Swimming pool looks a lot better in the photos than it actually is.

Smashing site.

Penboch
Well after reading some of the reviews both on the club site and on Tripadvisor we were to be honest a little concerned before we even arrived and even contemplated changing our booking. How wrong would we have been? We arrived around 12.00pm and were welcomed by Paul one of the reception staff. The booking in process was both simple and slick and he directed us to a reasonably level well sized serviced pitch at the bottom left hand side of the site. Quiet time on the site was between 11pm and 7am and to be honest it was quiet with the exception of the eve of Bastille Day which was a little noisy but we certainly weren't kept awake all night. The facilities in general were kept clean by the campsite staff. One thing they could improve on however is providing soap and a hand dryer in the toilets. This was sadly lacking. All in all we had a great 7 days here and if we are back in the area we would certainly go back again.

Found the site very cramped - no open space -charged for dog but did not even supply waste bins. Saturday night kept awake by a large noisy group until after 1am Showers ok if you kept one hand pressing button Loos barrack style no seats some no loo roll no soap to wash hands. But outdoor pool ok indoor very small Nice walk around the bay but too far to walk go to Arradon Vannes well worth a visit but will not return to this site

Open but Closed in May

Penboch
We found this site to be very tidy and clean - which makes us happy - facilities were limited, as everything was closed except the small indoor pool - bike rides where good and nice walks along the sea front. I have no idea what it would be like in high season but in mid May all was peaceful and tidy.very good.
